MOLINE, Illinois (Reuters) - Republican White House hopeful Rick Santorum said on Monday he did not care about the U.S. unemployment rate, perhaps the nation's most closely watched economic indicator, despite being embroiled in a campaign largely focused on the still-sputtering economy.
"I don't care what the unemployment rate is going to be. It doesn't matter to me. My campaign doesn't hinge on unemployment rates and growth rates," Santorum said during a campaign appearance in Illinois, which on Tuesday holds the next contest in the state-by-state battle for the Republican presidential nomination.
Santorum walked back from his comments later in remarks to reporters. "As far as my political campaign ... of course I care about the unemployment rate. I want the unemployment rate to go down, but I'm saying my candidacy doesn't hinge on whether the unemployment rate goes up and down. My candidacy is about something that transcends that; it's about freedom. It's not about Governor Romney's idea that he is going to fix the economy," he said.

If you're gonna criticize the guy, at least get the quote right... and use the whole thing.

Better be careful.
I hear that Rick is gonna outlaw swearing if elected.

Also he corrected 'his self' by saying he did care hours after he said what he said. This man can't stop putting his foot in his mouth.
What's amazing is that the longer he stays in the race, the less he feels he needs to hide his Talibornagain attitudes. If somehow he wins the GOP primary, he will have dug himself into such a deep hole with un-bigoted voters that he'll stand no chance in November. Also he corrected 'his self' by saying he did care hours after he said what he said. OK ...so I didn't get it exactly right. Sue me. I was doing something else at the time and happened to look up at the tube. It was pretty damn close to what he said. I stand corrected that it wasn't a perfect quote. It certainly wasn't a misrepresentation. I can't take the quote marks off the title now anyway. Try not to let it confuse you.

point is, you left out this part...
You did exactly what some on the left accuse some on the right of doing... you used part of a quote,... cherry picked... putting the quote out of context and making it into something it wasn't."As far as my political campaign ... of course I care about the unemployment rate. I want the unemployment rate to go down, but I'm saying my candidacy doesn't hinge on whether the unemployment rate goes up and down. And I don't even remotely consider Santorum a good choice for President.

but you said "Santorum walked back from his comments later in remarks to reporters", which tells me the original quote was correct. The part left out was Santorum attempting damage control for his earlier statement.

Ho only wants to enforce EXISTING laws on pornography too.
Santorum cares more about porn than unemployment.
