Any savvy businessman can corner a market ... only legislators can prevent another businessman from competing with him.

Government loves monopolies. They then only have to go to one place to get bribed.

Who is the guilty party, the business man who pays the politician for the right to ply his trade, or the politician who requires he be bought to receive his permission to do business?

Race baiting in the media, it's profitable. American media went from responsible sober reportage years ago to now, this trashy sensationalist like TMZ or CNN. The MSM lines up with democrat administrations when the bullets fly. FDR incorporated the MSM into a government agency during WW2. The MSM wasn't crazy about Korea but they wouldn't criticize either Truman or MacArthur. They called it the "forgotten war". The MSM apparently thought that it was appropriate for JFK to use the CIA to recruit an invasion army in Cuba that they abandoned. The MSM didn't mind LBJ's faked crisis that got us into Vietnam and they ended up blaming the whole thing on Nixon. Imagine Trump or Bush bypassing congress and going to the U.N. for permission to bomb a defenseless country in Europe. Bill Clinton was applauded for his efforts. The MSM turned on Bush Sr. and Bush Jr. over Iraq.

Yes, the operative phrase is through their own efforts. This is almost never the case with extremely wealthy people. They bought their position via buying off politicians and bureaucrats. Thus obtaining special deals and protection from competition. It’s much worse today.

In Hearst’s case he essentially became a monopoly, as the government allowed him to acquire an enormous percentage of the American media.

People do seem to forget that the logical extension of capitalism is monopoly, and monopoly is not humanity's friend.
