Almost all products at the nationwide grocery and dry goods store where almost all fixed income people shop nowadays have doubled, and fresh meats and fresh vegetarian products have gone through the roof. If you buy good apples that are not in bags, you can pay $1.50 per apple. Even if you buy them in a bag, you can pay $5.00 for a small bag of apples that can be undersized, last year's crop, with tough skins and stale brown spotted insides when peeled. And these small fruits, half the size of the $1.50 per apple frequently cost eighty cents apiece which is more expensive than the big apples, ounce per ounce, plus you're getting more tough skin and older apples that against the single large apple, much more costly. Vegetables? What happened to the sweet carrots that were $.49 per bag? Two bucks! And the carrots are broken-tooth hard, not sweet, not fresh, and have to be cooked to soften them up for safe consumption. Overooking hard carrots destroys many vitamins that make people energetic, strong, cutting human endurance, reduced eyesight, and increasing brain fog, and the like which are frequently dealt with medically, when poor nutrition is the problem. With women pursuing high-salaried jobs to support the single-mom lifestyle, who is going to know about nutrition in home economics classes that used to train women how to prepare nutritious foods with attention to fresh fruits and vegetables. Who's going to continue to buy fruits and vegetables that are preserved in a cooler for a year before consumed as "fresh?" When they're not fresh at all!
