In his weekly radio and online address Saturday, Obama said Detroit automakers are on track to build cars that average nearly 55 miles per gallon by 2025, doubling current mileage standards.
That means folks will be able to fill up every two weeks instead of every week, saving the typical family more than $8,000 at the pump over time, he said. Thats a big deal, especially as families are yet again feeling the pinch from rising gas prices.
Obama: Relief from high gas prices is just 13 short years away - HUMAN EVENTS
$8,000 in savings OVER TIME????
What is over time because the average 12,000 miles per American at 25 mpg means
in a year spending $1,440 at $3/gal for 480 gallons..
But OBAMA says savings of $8,000 or half of the $16,000 a year spent doesn't make sense so he had to mean over a period of years...
BUT 2025 is when mpg is to be 55...
So this mythical $8,000 won't happen for 13 years.
But say it does.. That means instead of 480 gallons it will be 240 gallons.
Unfortunately gas will be at the rate of growth since Obama's been in office:83%
increase or an average over his 3 years: of 27% a year!
hmmm.. gas today $3.75 growing at modest 10% a year for 13 years..
2025 gallon of gas increasing at 10% a year will be $13.00
So EVEN if the car gets 55mpg.. driving 12,000 miles gets 240 gallons THAT's GREAT!
Just it costs $3,208 for those 240 gallons in 2025!!!
So again.. if today at $3.75/gal to fill up 480 gallons a year that's: $1,800!
SO where is Obama coming up with $8,000 in SAVINGS if gas goes to $13/gallon?
Remember Chu of his administration SAID..
Are you saying that you no longer share the view that we need to figure out how to boost gasoline prices in America?" Lee asked
"I no longer share that view," Chu said.
