Why Are We Backing So Called Moderate Rebels Fsa Who Are Working With Al Nusra (aq)?

Is it in our best interest to let Syria and Iraq become a terrorist refuge for a genocidal extremist group? is the correct question.

the correct question is "What is the most efficient way of ensuring that a genocidal extremist group ( you know---the Islamic one that Isn't Islamic ? ) will be neutralized and also prevent a new one from forming ?

Obama thought it was a swell idea to meet his goal along with other western leaders.

Obama wants to take out Assad and he detested Maliki and would not give Iraq air support until Maliki resigned.

He was going for a two for one or as I call it a 2 fer.

Obama and the Saudis, Qatar, Turkey and others have been hell bent for leather to oust Assad.

Obama loved IS until they got too big for their britches. And hey, not just Obama. my Harper (and you wait till I go ballistic on this) Cameron et al.

I'm trying to can and freeze my garden now Jake but I can back up everything I say.

In the end, Obama/Harper/Cameron own this debacle.

Hey if you embrace and arm one terrorist group errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rebels against another expect blow back baby.

Maliki was a big part of the problem in Iraq today - Maliki's actions during his presidency are a huge reason for the dissatisfaction and alienation of not only the Sunni's but the Kurds. There is no way we could do anything effectively with Maliki in power. The only way to get ISIS cleaned out is to gain the support of the moderate Sunni's (most of whom don't support ISIS per se, but feel even ISIS is better than Maliki) and the support of the Kurds. With Maliki in power we would be fighting this war forever and have no lasting solution. It's as much a political problem as it is a military problem and Maliki is part of the problem.

Your are missing things based on emotion not reason, t d, I think.

But neither you nor I are going to be making the decisions as to what is going to happen next.

The great worry is that we do not know how far the law of unintended consequences applies to this round.

Maliki is gone, finally. That may help a great deal.

Obama seems intent on deposing Assad no matter what. FSA has been working with Al Nusra in the south and yet Obama continues to talk about arming only the so called moderate rebels.

Here's the explanation for the tag teaming.

“They offer their services and cooperate with us, they are better armed than we are, they have suicide bombers and know how to make car bombs,” an FSA fighter explained.

This is crazy. This is whacked out.

"ISTANBUL // Jabhat Al Nusra, the Sunni Islamist rebel group with links to Al Qaeda, has been quietly expanding its activities in southern Syria, working alongside western- and Arab-backed rebels in military operations aimed at ousting the regime of President Bashar Al Assad.

Al Nusra and other radical Islamist groups have dominated the anti-Assad insurgency in the north and east of Syria but until recently, they have been less numerous in Deraa and elsewhere in southern Syria.

While refraining from calling public attention to their activities, Al Nusra is now rising in the south. Its fighters have entered into secret, ad hoc and often uneasy alliances with units of the more moderate, western-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA).

“They offer their services and cooperate with us, they are better armed than we are, they have suicide bombers and know how to make car bombs,” an FSA fighter explained.

Many FSA commanders and secular opponents of Mr Al Assad and his regime refused to talk about Al Nusra, saying the group was irrelevant in Deraa, a tribal area with a tradition of moderate Islam. But others admitted that Al Nusra’s role in fighting in southern Syria is far greater than publicly acknowledged.

“The FSA and Al Nusra join together for operations but they have an agreement to let the FSA lead for public reasons, because they don’t want to frighten Jordan or the West,” said an activist who works with opposition groups in Deraa."

Agreeing with the president is the Right's ultimate hot potato.

Tarbaby, as it were.

Yup, the far right is so screwed going into the elections with this conumdrum hanging over its collective head.

I dunno if the elections will be affected. But, McCain is complaining Obama didn't go into Syria, after the republicans in the senate voted not to go into Syria, and after Paul said Obama's for adventures created ISIS, while McCain said Obama didn't have enough foreign adventures to prevent ISIS .... oh and btw Obama should have bombed Tehran to keep them from getting a bomb they don't have.

I don't like Obama, but ..... DAAAYYYYYMMMMM
