Americans created these universes and characters!

What is it about space that fascinates Americans more than people of other cultures? Why does America create the vast majority of sci fi?

Yyyyyyeaaah ummmm.......... that's not sci-fi. That's Hollyweird.

"Why are Americans responsible for the world's worst movies" would be a fair question.

Japanese Anime is a great medium for fans of scifi. It's way more prolific on that front than American entertainment.

We don't. We do great most of the world's blockbuster movies though.

As far as sci-fi goes the japanese beat us hands down. Hell, so do the Chinese and the Indians.

That is because to much of our sci fi relies to much on social justice and the stories come second. You can almost predict what is going to happen when you watch one.

I think it's because in real-life, America has made many of the world's greatest space accomplishments - such as landing men on the moon several times, sending multiple rover robots to Mars, sending mulitple space probes sailing out far beyond our solar system (furthest any man-made object has ever traveled). So as a result, that naturally fires up our American space-travel sci-fi, story-telling imagination, in obedience to human nature.

The US had an amazing cadre of scifi writers in the 40s and 50s. They set the agenda for future writers and the genre has spawned many subgenres that translate well to the big screen as well as TV.

It should be noted that a lot of "American" sci-fi is actually filmed and produced in Canada.
