White House Downgrades Itself

It appeard bush was such a strong president he is still in control of our economy. Obama has been president for almost 3yrs and all his great Keynesian economist seem to have no positive effect on the economy. Maybe someday it will dawn on obama it's his programs, not bushes, that have failed? No, he would never admit that.

Front page DRUDGE this Morning:

We will see and hear more of the same come next Thursday. More government, more blame. Too bad many will be watching the NFL.

Imagine a country run by people even more unrealistic about the plight of the people than the Bush admin.

If someone like perry got elected look for selloffs of public land to oil companies and the like.

They will privatize everything and Americans will be wage slaves for decades to come

The Bush Administration has been over for about 3 years. Maybe you didn't get the memo.
The Bush Administration featured 5% unemployment and 7 years of growing GDP.

The Obama Administration (currently in charge, at least nominally) has featured 9% unemployment and stagnant GDP, as well as record deficits.

You forgot to add that the Bush admin. presided over 176,000 jobs per month, added every month, from 2003- 2007.... Obama has presided over? Oh yeah, August 2011- 0 jobs added!

Pretending that the republicans did not cause this world wide economic disaster isnt flying with the American people

According to a story in the Los Angeles Times, the White House has taken the unusual step of downgrading its own economic forecasts.

The Republicans are sure to have a field day with this, and the LA Times is certainly aiming a few tidy snarky remarks at the President to kick things off.

“Who knows why we should believe the Obama-Biden White House now? They've been so flat-out wrong about the improving economy almost every single one of the 955 days they've been in the White House,” they write. “But now they're saying the economic outlook is going to get worse. Apparently, that's still possible.”

It is either a very ballsy or very stupid move by the current administration, to basically admit that things are going to go from bad to worse in an election year, and that there is nothing they can do about it.

“Is this some kind of "Princess Bride" trick to make us think that because we haven't believed them when they said things were improving, when they say things are worsening we won't believe them again?” asks the LA Times. “And we'll fall into their Chicago trap of thinking the economy really is getting better and reelect the guy whose economic advisors can't run a taco stand, let alone anything more complex than a lecture hall?”

Perhaps. Or perhaps this is Obama saying that things will get worse before they will get better. He certainly needs to have a good look at the unemployment figure, which looks to average 8.8 to 9.1 percent this year and 8.3 to 9 percent next year. That is a lot of people that are going to need help. Of course, Republicans will unfairly call them moochers.

The LA Times points out that the only President Franklin Roosevelt won reelection while unemployment was above 7.2 percent, and that was 75 years ago.
That record could well be broken next year.

It took a 1000 days for them to figure that out--when most of us knew that borrowing and spending 868 BILLION for road and bridge work--really wouldn't get this economy moving again?

Now that the money has run out--all those "saved" government workers jobs are now getting their pink slips.

TM continues to amaze me with the threads she writes. Why do people go to such great links to prove their abject stupidity and total inability to grasp what is right and what is wrong.

Obama is trying reverse psychology. He thinks if he says the economy is getting worse then the Republicans will have to say it is getting better just to oppose him. Obama has drank his own Kool-Aid & believes the Repubs are racist who will blindly oppose everything he says just because they hate his black ass..

First it was Democrats and Republicans but notice that you blame Bush... And in a way you're right too, just like people will blame Obama during the 2012 election. Get used to it TM.
