is it a country?
or is it a state in germany?

maybe someone from there can explain it.
it seems like it's a part of germany.
if so, then how so?

Germany is a federal State, like USA.

Bavaria is one of the 16 Länder.

Bavaria is like Florida or California, with a Landsrat, a government.

But in Bavaria there is a special political party, affliated to CDU (Merkel's party), the CSU.

if you can, visit it, it's very nice, Munich is a nice city ;) (with the Beer fest :D :D )

well said!

Bavaria was once Bavaria+Austria+Northern Italy = an area in the size of Germany around the Alps together with the Langobards and the Alemans. Because the Bavarians are called from the Alemans "Boiern" I guess also the genocided Bohemians once had been members of the Bavarian family.

nobofy i know thinks so

Everyone thinks so who calls the Prussian emperors over Germany "German emperors". For this assholes other German countries only had been "colonies of Prussia". Any explanation why Wolfgang Schäuble seemed to follow the doctrine "A Bavarian must never become federal chancellor"? Is this doctrine French or Prussian ... or ¿Swabian??
