WH Press Corps Goes Seven Weeks Without a Question | The Blog on Obama: White House Dossier

President Obama has not taken a serious question from the White House press corps in nearly seven weeks, a remarkable string that points to a campaign-style White House operation that is seeking to insulate the candidate from tough cross examination.

The last substantive question Obama took from a White House reporter was during a June 20 press conference following the G20 Summit in Los Cabos, Mexico. Obama allowed only six questions during the event, which was nearly guaranteed to keep him out of political hot water as the focus was on foreign policy.

Since then, Obama has held no press conferences, given no interviews to White House reporters, and taken no questions at the White House events he has held where reporters have been present.

I can understand the political staff wanting to insulate Obama from the possibility of gaffes, given he is running way behind.
I have a harder time understanding why the press is enabling this behavior rather than simply breaking camp and going home. If they are in the tank for Obama, as they were last time, it makes sense. But it risks marginalizing them even further as simply a propaganda arm of the white house.

No problem, all the WH Press Corps needs to know about the president, his activities and plans is delivered to them after the weekly mediamatters meeting with the WhiteHouse Office of Communications concludes and the ever increasing stream of video ads from the WhiteHouse's superpacs. The Leftmedia will take it from there.
The olde propagandameister Joe Goebbels would be so proud, since, after all "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".

Yeah, but it's not like the media idiots would ask anything of substance or from their idiot in chief or, God forbid, challenge anything he might say.

Yeah because the old "its not my fault it's the republicans fault" is getting old and he has absolutely no answer for his failed policies other than that...

It's only been 4 years - he cant come up with an excuse - hes worn them all out and no informed individual is buying his propaganda..

I just cant wait for the debates because he's going to get his ass handed to him.
