    Without the invention of the camera, there would be no UFO pictures.

    Without the invention of the video recorder, there would be no JFK asassination theories.

    Which came first, the technology chicken or the conspiracy egg?

    So ... explain the ancient Egyptian fascination with astronomy. The pyramids and all. That was just early science. Conspiracy theories came later.

    The internet made conspiracy theories easier to propagate.

    Before it had to spread by word of mouth, fliers, mailings, maybe the odd chance you got on a televison show or the radio.

    Now any idiot can spout something on the internet, and our more gullible citizens can read it and fall for it. Its less about there being more conspiracies and more about a greater ability to reach people just as stupid as you are.
