We would have been better off with tax rebate checks.

At least there would be no debate whether or not the middle class or small business is getting a benefit. This tax reform bill has turned into a cluster fuck. No, it is not Donald Trump's fault, he is not the GOP Congress. This is on them. They knew the Democrats would fight them tooth and nail so they needed to present a clear, simple reform plan. They failed. And what was Paul Ryan doing holding up that post card telling us our return will fit on it? Huh? Come on guys get it together. Ugh.

Fear not.

That which is called "tax reform" will be modified a million times in the next two months. The final product will bear no resemblance to the current proposals.

When negotiating, you always offer something anathema to your opponent, and then give it up when he agrees to give you something in return. The tax increase on the high end of the middle class is a prime example - Republicans will trade that away for something they want - perhaps a few points on the corporate tax.

Then, Democrats can brag about how they protected the middle class, and Republicans can brag about how they helped corporations.

It's called the "Art of the Deal" - nobody plays it better than Congress.

Just ride it out - ignore all the ballyhoo over the next month - and then focus in on the final drafts.
