On a hill
Was watching an episode of Chopped Canada when the contestants were telling the host what they would do with the $10,000 prize should they win. And one man said "my son has autism and $10,000 would go a long way in paying for expensive test and procedures".... uh...what? Canada has free healthcare? At least we keep hearing that from the left.
Later the same man explains the costs on the family "it gets tough sometimes".
Again...how is this possible when we constantly hear from the left that we should have a system like Canada??

Doesn't sound free at all to me.

A statement on a reality show with no context proves something?

A statement on a reality show with no context proves something?
What more context do you need? Specifically?
A contestant states he would use the $10,000 to pay healthcare cost for his son. In Canada.
What context are you missing?

What context are you missing?

First I would need more than a second hand retelling of something. Second I would need context. It is not expensive to diagnose someone as autistic. Third, these kinds of shows play on emotions so we have no idea of the context once again.

Lastly, no one claimed that every health care system pays for every single thing one may desire.

Really?
Because we constantly hear from the left that we need a "free" healthcare system like Canada.
Secondly, who said he was diagnosing his son, he said "treat" his son.
Treating Autism requires counseling, behavioral therapy and anti-psychotic drugs when necessary. They also need therapy such as occupational therapy, speech therapy etc.as they age to deal/live in a society.
Nice of you to try and minimize the condition by reducing all this to simply diagnosing, when everyone knows diagnoses is only the beginning.

If you must see the show.... Season 2 Episode 12

Those who try and deny people basic healthcare use the word "free". You try and diminish the fact that millions can not access healthcare by using the word "free". Nevermind you won't step up and pay for the wars or Trump's bail outs, no one dismisses these things by saying that they are "free".

I want UHC and I know it won't be "free" but I will also note, I do not see why it can't be free since we do not pay for things like the wars or bail outs.

Dang, more than a second hand retelling of something? How about if the contestant was a whistleblower? A second hand retelling of something whistleblower.

Read my posts on that. (granted, there are not that many)

And the point of the op is? If you are scared we are going to resemble Canada's system do not worry. It will never happen. Don't walk around scared. We've been hearing this stuff forever. Socialism has No foothold in America. Never has never will.

UHC is no more Socialist than S.S. Medicare, bail outs, etc.

Doesn't sound free at all to me.

Do you know definitively the contestant lives in Canada?

Universal health coverage is no more "socialist" than a standing army.

Yes because he is a chef at Four Seasons in Toronto. And because this is Chopped Canada, which is a show that places...wait for it... Canadian Chefs.
