Thousands of people are murdered every year. With police seemingly unable to stem the tide of violence, mobs are increasingly taking matters into their own hands.
Al Jazeera's David Mercer reports from the city of Panajachel where a man accused of robbing a street vendor was recently lynched by a mob and put on fire in front of the police station.
