Va senate passes bill that lets parents keep perverted sexual material OUT of schools

hooray ignorance
YES because giving parents an option to keep sexual discussions away from their children is ignorant. lol
God forbid choice. Right lefty? Conformity all the wayyyyyy!
if they have an issue they can voice that with their local school board.

there is no reason for teachers to prepare two lessons because someone feels their delicate little flower can't handle reading

After passionate debate, Va. Senate passes bill that lets parents object to books

Good good. Of course the degenerate leftards are whining about censorship blah blah blah...I am glad this passed and hopefully its signed or over ridden when the democrap governor vetoes it. We are moving to Va in 3 months and this is great news.

I have mixed feelings. Okay perhaps at the elementary level, although my parents never censored my reading even at that age and I am none the worse for wear for it.

At the high school level, no. Ridiculous. Let them read.

On the other hand however, until children are of legal age they belong to their parents, NOT the school system, and the parents should have the final say

They don't have to go to the school board, thank goodness.
Its not about reading. Its about indoctrination and choice.
Funny how you lefties only like choice when it is about killing life.

Parents need to get involved with their kids lives, whether they are for or against this bill, they need the discuss it with their kids, and the school board. Failing the kid is the stupidest answer I've heard.

so what books would you like to see banned?

"indoctrination"lol

We're not talking porn here but real literature. Does every child get to have their own curriculum? Parents can complain to the school board or principal.

i don't know what you guys think is happening, but teachers are not using 50 Shades in the classroom. what this bill puts at risk is classic literature with broadly accepted educational value.

It's not left wingers who vote for censorship. That would be conservatives. Hopefully the governor will veto this piece of crap

Before the Leftists on the Warren Court expanded the First Amendment beyond all rational bounds, it was understood to mean, basically, that CONGRESS couldn't pass a law that criminalized criticizing the government or any government official. Thus, prior to 1960, censorship was prevalent all over the United States and was accepted as reasonable and certainly Constitutional. Schools and parents took care to screen the materials presented to school children to ensure that they were APPROPRIATE for school children, did not promote immoral or perverse sexual behavior, or expose children to materials that would be more suitable to adults.

It was recognized and accepted that different communities had different standards for what was "obscene" or objectionable, and that was perfectly OK. What was fine in San Francisco might not be fine in Little Rock, Arkansas.

There is nothing wrong with censorship of materials being taught in school, and nothing wrong with the state or the local school board deciding what is offensive and what is appropriate.

What is perverse is distorting the United States Constitution and bending the minds of the American Public to believe that it is somehow "wrong" to take our pedagogical obligations to our children seriously.

When my son was ten years old and a fifth grader in a suburban Allegheny County (PA) public school - at a time when there had never been a SINGLE REPORTED CASE of heterosexual transmission of AIDS in the County - he was given a video presentation on how to prevent the spread of HIV during anal "sex."

Does that make you the least bit uncomfortable?

It should.

How is it censorship? Parents shouldn't have rights? Especially when it comes to THEIR children? Wow...leftards are at it again. As I said I know what my kids are reading and learning because I have a good relationship with their teachers and I pay attention to what they are learning etc. My daughter wasn't allowed recently to go on a field trip to see a black propaganda film for "black history month" fortunately I have raised her correct and she has ZERO white guilt and didn't even want to go. A parent can't just depend on the school to inform them of what they are forcing kids to read or learn parents MUST stay informed their own ways. Doing so is part of being a good parent.

Dear VA Parents, later this week we will be discussing the Christian Bible, a highly sexual, violent, and profane book to many. For example, Incest:

"And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father. – Bible : Genesis (19) : 33 – 36."

If you would prefer your child not learn the Christian Bible, please advise of that ASAP. Thank you.
