USMB Political Spectrum Poll: Where you at?

Where do you fall on the political spectrum

No Option up there for thinks both sides are corrupt, suck and do not act in the best interests of America.

And the difference? (Aside from honesty?)
Progressives are socialists/communists that still like to benefit from the forms of capitalism that nations provide.

Honest communists try to stay away from as much of it as possible.

Speaking of communism and capitalism...what's the deal with China?

Are they communist or capitalist?

China is Communist who has just discovered that capitalism isn't so bad after all.

Ahh, the ridiculous hyberbole again.

So, tell me, which progressives have suggested the complete governmental takeover of the means of US production? Please feel free to name as many prominent people as you can, and provide specific quotes.

Oh, and by the way, if we're "Socialists" and "Communists" then you are "Anarchists".

Has it occurred to you guys that people's positions on various issues might be so all over the board that they just cannot be fit into some simplistic label?

I mean I realize that makes it difficult for you partisans to divide the world into white hats v black hats, but perhaps the problem there is that your duelistic POV is flawed at inception.

Even assuming every issue were merely divided into two schools of thought,(which is clearly nonsense) there are still so damned many issues where people who think themselves member of one team or the other might disagree, that finding the right label for their POV is misleading at best and totally wrong at worst.

Well said.

They seem to have evolved into Totalitarian Capitalists.

The idea of communists as a monolithic block was always misguided anyway. A lot of failures in early Cold War thinking came from assuming all communist countries liked each other. Turns out "communist" was/is just a mask used by people in positions of power, but that national loyalties were far more important.

Centrism (better defined)

You can find yourself on all sides of an issue. Sometimes you are left/far left, other times right/far right. Prefer actually results over claims. Supports Bipartisan efforts when you do not have strong opinion, but prefer real heated debates that leads to this effort over political backroom wheeling and dealing.

You prefer the American society as is with little improvements. Strongly anti-corruption and usually want politicians removed the minute proof of wrong doing is presented regardless of party. Can hold strong views on foreign policy--can be a hawk or a dove. Experiment with different ideological viewpoints to better understand an issue.

A left leaning centrist/right leaning centrists are also centrists. There are also "blow in the wind" centrist(Chris Matthews), anti-regime centrist(that is what I am) and ideological centrist(Olympia Snowe)

China is Communist who has just discovered that capitalism isn't so bad after all.

Actually, the Chinese already knew what capitalism was, they just got hijacked by Communist fanatics.

All countries that run to the extremes will eventually find the warm cozy center.

Thanks for the poll, but I would have liked to have seen liberal by itself and progressive linked to far left. I mean, what is to the left of progressive?

So, maybe it should have been Far Left/Progressive?

Like I said before, I'm not very political, so I don't know all the nuances and subclassifications.

I just know where I am relative to others...sort of.

That's what I have done, but so what?

I just hate to see sincere and honest to God liberals lumped in with full of shit progressives.

absolutes are rarely correct. I am a libertarian but can agree with liberals on ideas
