The Israeli missile defense system will be integrated into a regional defense array planned by the US, General Patrick O'reilly, head of the Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency, said Monday.

In an interview published in the American Defense News journal. According to the interview, the Israeli missile batteries may also protect Arab countries who are allies of the US but with which Israel has no diplomatic ties.

General Patrick said that the multi-layered defense system being developed by Israel – comprised of Iron Dome and Magic Wand systems on the lower levels and Arrow 2 and 3 systems on the atmospheric level and above – will strengthen the ability of the US to protect its forces in the Middle East.

Israel is the only country today employing operational missile systems that are capable of intercepting rockets and missiles of different sizes and ranges. The Arrow and Iron Dome systems were developed with American aid and in cooperation with American security companies. A large part of the systems' trials were conducted in the US.

Iron Dome is also the only system in the world that has succeeded in intercepting rockets in a real-time theater, by shooting down eight Grad rockets launched from the Gaza Strip two months ago.

How about that! Arab states that have no diplomatic relations with Israel will safer because there is an Israel.

Who has plans to send missiles into those Arab countries?

Shia Irianians are certainly looking to continue the expansion they have made into Lebnanon.

And we know what Shia and Sunni do to each other on their most holy of days don't we?

It's not propaganda. Sunni and Shia delight in killing each other on their holiest days. That is when no one else is around to kill.

Our missiles can reach US bases: Iran
Jun 29, 2011
Iran on Monday unveiled underground silos that can carry missiles capable of hitting Israel and US bases in the Gulf as it kicked off 10 days of war games, the country's latest show of military force amid a standoff with the West over its disputed nuclear program.

State TV broadcast footage of deep underground silos, claiming that medium- and long-range missiles stored in them are ready to launch in case of an attack on Iran. Silos are viewed as a strategic asset for Iran in the event of a US or Israeli attack on its nuclear facilities.

Col Asghar Qelichkhani, a spokesman for the war games, said the silos "function as a swift-reaction unit". "Missiles, which are permanently in the vertical position, are ready to hit the pre-determined targets,'' he was quoted as saying.

Wed, Jun 29, 2011 - Iran on Monday unveiled underground silos that can carry missiles capable of hitting Israel and US bases in the Persian Gulf as it began 10 days of war games, the country’s latest show of military force amid a standoff with the West over its disputed nuclear program.
State TV broadcast footage of deep underground silos, claiming that medium and long-range missiles stored in them are ready to launch in case of an attack on Iran. The silos are widely viewed as a strategic asset for Iran in the event of a US or Israeli attack on its nuclear facilities. Iranian Colonel Asghar Qelichkhani, a spokesman for the war games, said the silos “function as a swift-reaction unit.”

“Missiles, which are permanently in the vertical position, are ready to hit the predetermined targets,” he was quoted as saying by state TV. An officer in Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guards, which is in charge of the missile program, said Tehran has constructed “numerous” underground missile silos which satellites cannot detect. He did not elaborate. The state television report broadcast footage of underground launching pads for the Shahab-3 missile, which have a range of more than 2,000km — putting Israel, US bases in the Persian Gulf region and parts of southeastern and eastern Europe within reach.

The report also showed pictures of missiles being fired from one silo after a large metal roof opened to allow the missile to launch. The TV report said the missile silos are linked to a missile control center. Iranian Aerospace Force Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh, touted the silos as a crucial asset in its standoff with the West, saying that with “these facilities we are certain that we can confront unequal enemies and defend the Islamic Republic of Iran.” Another unidentified Guards officer told state TV that “only few countries in the world possess the technology to construct underground missile silos. The technology required for that is no less complicated than building the missile itself.”

Qelichkhani said the silos are based on local technology developed by Iranian experts. The Iranian war games, which began on Monday, are dubbed “The Great Prophet Six” and include tests of long-range missiles such as the Sajjil, which boasts a range similar to that of the Shahab-3. Iran conducts several war games every year, as part of its military self-sufficiency program that started in 1992, and frequently unveils new weapons and military systems during the drills.

Well you could hardly expect them not to create defence given the prolonged huffing and puffing there has been to destroy Iran's 'maybe' nuclear weapons ability

Any country would make sure it is defended when it has been subject to the constant threat of bombing Iran has been subject to.

Iran Conducting Secret Ballistic Missile Tests, Britain Says
Wednesday, June 29, 2011 — Iran has conducted covert tests of ballistic missiles in addition to a 10-day program of public military maneuvers, Britain alleged on Wednesday.
Foreign Secretary William Hague told the House of Commons that there had been secret experiments with missiles that would be able to deliver a nuclear weapon, but did not specify precisely when the tests had taken place. Iran has "been carrying out covert ballistic missiles tests and rocket launches, including testing missiles capable of delivering a nuclear payload," Hague said. Britain believes Tehran has conducted at least three secret tests of medium-range ballistic missiles since October, amid an apparent escalation of its nuclear program and scrutiny from the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Iran is currently displaying its military hardware in a series of war games in an apparent show of openness, and on Tuesday fired 14 missiles in public tests. However, the U.K. believes that the covert missile tests show Iran's leaders are seeking to avoid scrutiny over the real extent of their weapons programs. "On the back of the recent IAEA report and the unanswered questions about its nuclear program, they only serve to undermine further Iran's claims that its nuclear program is entirely for civilian use," said a Foreign Office spokesman, on customary condition of anonymity in line with policy.

An IAEA report last month listed "high-voltage firing and instrumentation for explosives testing over long distances and possibly underground" as one of seven "areas of concern" that Iran may be conducting clandestine nuclear weapons work. Hague also said Britain was concerned over Tehran's decision to increase its capacity to enrich uranium to a higher level at the Fordo site near the holy city of Qom in central Iran. "It has announced that it intends to triple its capacity to produce 20 percent enriched uranium. These are enrichment levels far greater that is needed for peaceful nuclear energy," Hague said.

Low-enriched uranium — at around 3.5 percent — can be used to fuel a reactor to generate electricity, while uranium enriched to around 90 percent purity can be used to develop a nuclear warhead. Enriching to 90 percent can be done much more easily from material enriched to 20 percent purity than from low-enriched material. Some Western officials claim Iran is accelerating its attempts to produce a nuclear weapon, partly because leaders have been shaken by protests against authoritarian regimes across the Middle East.

IAF strikes targets in Gaza in response to rocket attacks
IAF aircraft bomb two weapons manufacturing sites in northern Gaza Strip early Wednesday morning.
The IDF responded to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip with strikes on weapons manufacturing sites in Gaza early Wednesday morning. IAF aircraft targeted two sites in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, according to a statement released by the IDF Spokesperson's Unit. Direct hits were confirmed.

The IDF statement said that the strikes were a response to rocket fire on Israel from Gaza on Tuesday that caused damage to civilian structures. Two rockets were fired from Gaza into southern Israel on Tuesday night, causing minor damage to a house.

One rocket landed in an open area in the Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council, while the other landed in Sdot Negev Regional Council, causing minor damage to a house. An alarm sounded throughout both areas prior to the explosion of the rockets.

On Sunday, the IDF launched an attack on a Gaza tunnel used by terrorists to infiltrate into Israel, in response to rocket fire from Gaza on Saturday. Three Qassam rockets were fired into southern Israel, landing in open fields in the Hof Ashkelon municipality.
