Seriously though.. I've been reading up on the TVA and astounding little contradictory tidbits keep stopping me dead in my tracks. For example:

The majority of Tennessee’s electricity is produced by coal.

It has minor coal reserves but primarily uses coal imported from Kentucky, Wyoming, West Virginia, Virginia, Illinois, and Colorado.

WTF?

Tennessee also produces ethanol and has the second highest production in the south behind Texas.

• Tennessee does not require gasoline to be mixed with renewable fuels.

In 1977, the President decided to indefinitely defer commercial nuclear spent fuel reprocessing in the United States because of the risks of nuclear technology and/or materials being diverted from such plants.

We are working on having it here U.S. funds projects to explore nuclear waste reprocessing

The argument is that it is more expensive to reprocess and store and reprocessing increases the chance that the materials will be stolen. I personally hope we get a commercially viable molten-salt reactor that will just use the waste as fuel.
