I think the UN made that statement before the new pictures came up.

U.N. report perceives torture at Gitmo
Urges U.S. to shut prison, saying detainees' rights to physical, mental health are violated

    By MAGGIE FARLEY
    Los Angeles Times
NEW YORK - A draft U.N. report on the detainees at Guantanamo Bay concludes that the U.S. treatment of them violates their right to physical and mental health, and, in some cases, constitutes torture.

It also urges the United States to close the military prison in Cuba and bring the captives to trial on U.S. territory, charging that Washington's justification for the continued detention is a distortion of international law.

The report, compiled by five special envoys to the United Nations who interviewed U.S. officials, former prisoners, and detainees' lawyers and families, is the product of a year-and-a-half investigation ordered by the U.N. Commission on Human Rights. The team did not have access to prisoners at Guantanamo Bay.

I guess what was released today was the 'final', not the 'draft.' Leastways, that's what it seems. Either way, it's not the UN's decision to make.

I see the U.N.(useless nations) are at it again. Yep they think these people should be treated as criminals with trials and lawyers. Think again you idiots!
These guys really crack me up. It was just a short time ago when radical Islam was setting a match to the country of France and people just said "oh let it burn, they are just expressing themselves." When are these guys gonna wake up and smell the coffee? Its a war of culture, religion and ideology, and they will continue to push their agenda until they win or are subdued by force.

The UN needs to grow some balls and "wade in" in Darfur and quit beating the drum that only left-winghuts hear.
