UN Calls for Partnership with Private Sector, NGOs

- Thousands of refugees are flowing out of South Kordofan and Blue Nile states due to the armed conflicts in the areas, Sudan - UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Sudan, Ali Al-Zaatari said on Monday.
While addressing the B4P (Business for Peace) Global Compact Platform yesterday, Al-Zaatari said that there should be development and investment according to a specific timetable, calling for the establishment of a partnership among the concerned parties to achieve the goals.
State Minister at the Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity, Dr. Thabita Boutros said that the forum came on time as the talks over the two areas are taking place in Addis Ababa to achieve peace.
Global Compact Chairman, Sir Mark Moody-Stuart affirmed that the businesses will help in resolving problems and removing obstacles.
South Sudan Businessmen and Employers Federation called for supporting the initiative as it assists in achieving peace and development.
Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation Secretary-General, Bakri Yusuf affirmed that they will continue cooperation with both Sudan and South Sudan governments to achieve peace in the war affected areas.
