The United Nations (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has warned leaders of the warring parties in South Sudan to stop war or face sanctions by the world body.
He accused both the government and armed opposition of favouring military solution to the conflict, although no side is winning the war.
According to him South Sudan’s leaders had failed their people because of their personal ambitions.
It is interesting that Ban Ki–Moon never warned or mentioned in his report what are South Sudan policies towards its neighbour Sudan.
He said thousands of people have died, millions displaced and threatened by hunger and diseases throughout the country, but he didn’t mention why!
All similar facts and evidences confirm that the leadership of South Sudan is adopting and managing a war using Sudanese rebel movements, and the support it is enjoying from its friends and the international community for the development of the South is used against Khartoum government and the domestic opposition. This where the funds are directed instead of being allocated to save his displaced and starving, Ki-Moon is crying for.
The Secretary General deplored the human rights situation in South Sudan, but he is not concerned at all about those terrorized and displaced humans due to the atrocities of the armed movements who are crossing to Sudan from South Sudan territories.
The Secretary should be just and fair. He shouldn’t issue warnings to end the internal fighting, which is exhausting the resources of the country, but also should ask the South government to refrain from spending the funds to host, train and supply arms to the Sudanese rebel movements.
He also accused the South factions of favouring military solution, this is applies on the South government’s attitude towards Sudan. Why can’t he advice them to stop hostilities, respect the sovereignty of their neighbours and try to solve problems, if any, by peaceful means.
