A lot of people in the UK are willing to do so. The Gov introduced a scheme for Ukrainian refugees. People who wanted to let a family into their home had to contact them. They would get paid some money - not a lot £50 or £100 a week. They were inundated with people wanting to do this. Since then people have been suggesting we do the same with Afghans and others'. No word from the Government so far but the point is the people of the UK do seem open to allowing refugees and Asylum seekers into their homes,

This is a particularly dumb right wing argument that absolves governments from doing the right thing.

We pay taxes so that society problems are dealt with. So that homelessness is dealt with, so that kids dont starve, so that our streets are safe.

Unfortunately conservatives give this money to their friends as tax cuts and the problems never get sorted..

Everybody wants to help refugees. We just want them vetted. Criminals are hopping The border we don’t want them.
