On June 3, 2016, a Union Pacific train carrying thousands of gallons of Bakken crude oil derailed in the town of Mosier, Oregon. The derailment sparked a fire, which burned about a quarter acre of land, and sent some 42,000 of crude oil spilling into the soil, wastewater system, and — in small amounts — Columbia River.

Why should taxpayers pay to clean up environmental damage done by companies?

Cost of doing business.

It's true, pipelines would be safer than trains.

Makes you wonder why Obama was such an asshole about pipelines, eh?

Because the fucking companies do not have adequate equipment and response time to do it. They should pay the entire price of the cleanup when it is done, but depending on them to respond will allow the damage to spread and increase ten fold. Of course, the present admin does not give a damn about the environment or what the effects of such disasters are on the local people.

Makes me wonder about why you are such an asshole about the dangers of pipelines. Many pipeline spill in rivers. Like the Yellowstone.

You think the government has a warehouse full of per-positioned equipment just for fighting environmental disasters?

Like 'The Thunderbirds'?

Wrong ... they sub-contract those 'evil companies' to do that work.

Should we close all pipelines and just use trains and trucks?
