If the border adjustment tax applies only to outsourced jobs and tax inversions that should increase wages.

Only deporting criminal illegals reduces crime and helps balance the budget. Dreamers with no pathway to citizenship also have no pathway to federal welfare funds. Taxation of remittances by non-citizens who are also non-legal residents will also help on the national debt.

Given Democratic protests and slow-walking everything in the Senate any unfulfilled promises can act as a way to get rid of Ds in otherwise red states.

So you say people should vote out the Democrats as they largely oppose Trump's plans.

I suppose the Democrats say the Republicans should be voted out for supporting Trump's plans.

Which Trump policy would you like to debate first? There are some protectionist ones I support so others may be more exciting conversation.

We need to be careful about "illegal" immigrants. There is a big difference between the millions of immigrants who are here illegally and the much smaller number who commit subsequent illegal acts once they have arrived. The felony rate among undocumented immigrants is lower than the rate among the native American population.

As for economic impact, undocumented immigrants do not receive benefits or entitlements, yet they pay taxes. The Social Security Administration figures that undocumented immigrants pay some 13 billion dollars into the SS system but get only one billion in payout, a subsidy of everybody else.

Crime is a social problem and criminals are bad. Don't let that blur the reality of immigrants with and without legal documentation and their role in our society.

Given that the debt ceiling vote will be a Christmas tree I don't think your voice will be heard.

Sounds more like excuses than reasons for not enforcing U.S. immigration law.

The border adjustment tax will apply to all imports.

Corporations will lose their COGS deduction (cost of goods sold) for any/all imports into the USA.

This is according to recent reports of the proposals that I have heard from attorneys close to the DJT White House and to Paul Ryan in the House.

Dreamers with no pathway to citizenship also have no pathway to federal welfare funds.

Explain?

You need to check with an immigration lawyer but non-citizens can only get very limited welfare payment. Somalis for example are fleeing to Canada because their access to welfare is just about dead.

Non-citizens remain eligible for free medical care, food stamps and drivers licenses, not to mention education, meals and many other benefits for their children. But I'm glad Canada is upping the ante.

Most of the statistical evidence I can find relates crimes rates and immigrants. This is not really helpful in determining if there are higher rates in illegal immigrant populations vs. legal ones. Do you have actual data that looks at illegal immigrants specifically?

According to a 2014 Justice Department report , nearly 50% of all federal crimes were in districts that border Mexico. Whether in CA, TX, NM, AZ.

Now it's not really too much of a leap to say that those crimes are being committed by illegal aliens, unless you believe that American citizens just happen to be 400% more likely to commit a federal crime if they live in one of those districts than other Americans are.

I think you were misled by the statistic on "federal crimes." Rape, robbery, murder etc. are state crimes, not federal. Federal crimes include violations of border laws. It isn't surprising that there are more of these federal crimes on the border than in states like TN or NV. It doesn't mean that all the crimes are being committed by Mexicans. US citizens commit lots of border crimes too,
