People in America do not see the true nature of capitalism and protest because they believe it to be something else entirely. It is a system where the weak fail and the strong flourish. Now this sounds like survival of the fittest which it is but there is a key difference. The weak can become the strong. If they work and actually want to improve their economic situation it can be done. People living in poverty can advance to middle class and the exceptional can even rise to upper class. Now what these protestors are protesting is that there is no economic equality which they are right in that sense. Though they are wrong in another, they don't deserve it. This is a country where you can accomplish almost anything if you are willing. Sometimes you may fail but if there is a will there is a way. Now some of these protestors are calling for socialism which actually kills the upper class and makes everything the same resulting in a weakened economic state. If they desire this they should move to China or North Korea and you can see the true nature of socialism and the wonders of capitalism. Now capitalism isn't perfect, nothing is, it I however the best we have. If you can think of something better please tell me and until someone does then capitalism shall be the best.

Another beauty of capitalism is that if the weak or poor chose to stay poor or lack the ability to advance beyond poverty they still get to enjoy most of the fruits of capitalism. Todays poor are richer than a King was 100 years ago. For the most part they have cars, houses, plazma TV, and state of the art health care.

Always remembering Capitalist GREED can be detrimental,as has been clearly seen in the USA over recent years but that comes down to controlling some of the worst elements, which did not happen....funny how when Capitalists/Banks for example get into trouble, its always the non capitalist "little man" who has to pay the price when bailing them out. Your assumption about China is out of kilter as there are millions of capitalist there and growing daily......in fact if they called in all their loans to say America, you would be living in mud huts.....such is your Capitalism..just saying tl:cool:

Every economic system has to deal with greed, and every other negative aspect of human behavior. Cuz every economic system is made up of human beings, with the same failings and flaws that will exist regardless of the system in place.

Ah, no. The Mafia makes you an offer you can't refuse. Capitalism gives you choices. Agree though that regulation is required, the question is how much.

    Glass-Steagall.

Of course it cracks me up to see retired military crowing about capitalism.

The U.S. military is the most socialist organization on the planet.

Actually, the regulation is what makes the Mafia possible.
