Palestinians complain of widespread torture in PA detention centers

From Khalid Amayreh in Ramallah

"It is a slaughter house," "even the Gestapo didn't do this;" I spent many years in Israeli jails, and never experienced some thing like that." These are some of the comments and observations made by people who have just been released from Palestinian Authority (PA) lockups and detention centers.

The PA said it formally and completely stopped physical torture in its numerous detention centers as of October 2000, especially following protests by the donor countries which complained that their tax-payers' money was being used to torture suspected political opponents in the West Bank.

However, recent reports and testimonies gathered by human rights organizations and journalists have shown that intensive, even life-threatening torture is still being widely practiced by PA security authorities with or without the knowledge of the political authorities.

RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- The Pentagon has named Admiral Paul Bushong as the new US security coordinator for Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Bushong will replace Air Force Lieutenant General Michael Moeller, and will be responsible for building up the PA security forces, the Pentagon said in a statement on Friday.

The U.S. security coordinator for Israel and the PA is located at the U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem and is formally responsible for building the PA security infrastructure.

Two points:
1) I notice that the victim of "Palestinian" brotherly love admits he spent years in Israeli prisons and was never treated as he was by his brethren.
2) How did TinHorn, the world's premier panderer of PIC (The Voice of Palestine) camel crap, get scooped on this story? Well, TinHorn?

I have been posting about the PA security forces for years. Starting back when US General Keith Dayton was running the show.

I very much doubt that any American general is 'running' the PA's security force.

As to this: ":The PA security forces are recruited, armed, paid, and trained by the US" - I'd like to see the sources for this interesting information. The last I heard, the PA signed the checks......

Our Man in Palestine

At the center of the Palestinian government’s security reforms are several “special battalions” of the National Security Forces (NSF), an eight-thousand-member gendarmerie that makes up the largest unit of the 25,000-strong Palestinian armed forces in the West Bank.11 The officer in charge of the vetting, training, equipping, and strategic planning of these special battalions is Lieutenant General Keith Dayton, the United States security coordinator (USSC) for Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Dayton, meanwhile, was overseeing the recruitment, training, and equipping of Abbas’s rapidly expanding security forces.25 Khaled Meshaal, chief of Hamas’s politburo, delivered a fiery speech denouncing “the security coup” as a “conspiracy” supported by “the Zionists and the Americans”—charges Fatah denied.

Depending upon which local franchise of jihad Intl. Inc., is currently at war with its competing franchise, torture seems to be a common activity for the restless "yutes" to spend some quality time with their friends from muhammud's (swish), neighbourhood.

This article describes some of the fun and games that took place during the Hamas vs. Fatah civil war a few years ago.

LiveLeak.com - 'Hamas torturing Fatah in Gaza'

RELATED Al-Aksa: We also fought IDF in Gaza A Fatah official in Ramallah told the Post that at least 100 of his men have been killed or wounded as a result of the massive crackdown by Hamas. He said that some of the Fatah activists had been brutally tortured by Hamas militiamen.

He said that the perpetrators belonged to Hamas's armed wing, Izaddin al-Kassam, and the movement's Internal Security Force.

According to the Fatah official, at least three of the detainees had their eyes put out by their Hamas interrogators, who accused them of providing Israel during the war with information about the location of Hamas militiamen and leaders.

A number of Hamas leaders and spokesman claimed in the past few days that Fatah members in the Gaza Strip had been spying on their movement and passing on the information to Israel.

In 2007, Dahlan assisted in a U.S. plan to overthrow the elected Hamas government in Gaza, but the coup failed when Hamas carried out a counter-coup, and routed Fatah forces in Gaza instead.[5]

Dahlan organised paramilitary units of several thousand fighters trained with American assistance in Arab countries, and lobbied Israel to allow Fatah forces in Gaza to receive large shipments of arms and ammunition to fight Hamas.[27]

So shall I understand that you don't object to the torture of Arab/Moslem prisoners as long as the torture is carried out by Arabs/moslems ?

You don't have a defendable point. Your hope is to excuse responsibility for the actions of islamist terrorists by implicating others as the culprits. You may eventually learn that in the grown up world, this is a failed tactic. The torture of fatah prisoners by Hamas (and the reverse which was done in retaliation), is the responsibility of those performing the torture.

While you hope to blame the Great Satan and Israel for every self inflicted disaster created by islamists, placing blame on others only allows Arab/Moslem incompetence to continue.

Since you are a well informed terrorist supporter, could you send me Dahlan's address so that I can send him a box of Cuban seegars? Thanx in advance.

Why do you choose sidestepping and denial as a failed tactic to avoid addressing comments directed at your posts?

They are trained by the CIA and the Mossad, both. They learn a lot about the science of torture.

There was a General Dayton stationed in Israel, I am just reading he left his position as the US Security Coordinator for Israel-Palestinian Authority in 2010, whoever took his place, and I am reading that was Lt General Michael Moeller, is probably standing right there telling them how to torture, participating perhaps.

The US has a lot of experience with torture, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay, and no telling how many secret prisons there are all over the world.

You know something interesting, it was CPT, Christian Peacemakers in Iraq, who brought the story to the public about Abu Ghraib.

I am sure you wish you were there, if you were not, considering the great hate you have always had for every Palestinian man, woman, and child.

Here is the man in charge of the PA.

This is from Wikipedia:

Lt. Gen. Michael Moeller

Lieutenant General Michael R. Moeller of the United States Air Force is the current U.S. Security Coordinator as of October 2010. According to his official military biography, immediately prior to this appointment, Moeller served as Director for Strategy, Plans and Policy for Headquarters U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). General Moeller has served as a pilot in operations Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom.[41] Since this was designated a "position of importance and responsbility" under United States law (10 USC 601), the incumbent holds the rank of Lieutenant General. Moeller's appointment by the Obama Administration is reported to be an effort to increase coordination between CENTCOM and the USSC program.[42] Additionally, since taking over for Dayton, Lt. Gen. Moeller has kept a low profile, which has been attributed to his desire to smooth relations with the PA, who were quite displeased with his predecessor.[43]. On 15 May 2012 Moeller was nominated by the President for reappointment to the grade of Lieutenant General and assignment to a different "position of importance and responsibility." [44] As of 17 May 2012, the specific details of this new assignment have not been released.

It is interesting that when the Christian Peacemaking Team was kidnapped in Iraq The Palestinians had massive protests demanding their release.

Conspiracy theories are much more fun when you include MI5, Freemasons and the all inclusive "Zionist entity".

You know something interesting, it was actually a reserveist who was the initial whistleblower.

Oh, really cogent points for discussion there - because I ask for a source on some dubious 'information, Sherri decides it's time to pretend she "knows" how I've "always" felt????

Who knew that someone's attempting to find out the facts of a situation would be used as grounds for such venomous allegations against them?
