RealClearPolitics - Election 2016

You are going to get Trump if you like it or not. There is no stopping him now. The only Primary he might lose down the stretch is Texas, and just barely. And if, as GOP suggests, they deny him the nod, he will run Third Party. The GOP really has a big problem.

I'd say the Nation has a big problem if Trump is the GOP nominee, because the Democrats are only offering up a corrupt, lying criminal and a self described socialist as an alternative to him.....

I guess it's time to get ready for President Trump; just when I thought it couldn't get any worse than the last two dipshits we've had in the White House. :hellno:

Your obsession with Trump is palpable.

Why do you fear him so? He is a progressive just like you...self hatred is not healthy.

Trump is a very smart man with instincts for winning, but he has no idea what he's getting into. Running this country is quite different from what he does so successfully. I fear major decisions will be made by his 'experts,' like a child king whose kingdom is run by ministers behind the throne. And although Putin would be happy to mix it up with Trump in a Twitter war, not all world leaders would take his insults with a grain of salt.
That's why I fear him.

I just listening to Issa on CNN praising Rubio and talking about some fairy tale where Rubio defeats Trump......although Rubio has not even won a Primary yet. It seems the establishment Repubs are pretty sure they can wrestle the nomination away from Trump. Unless they totally screw him and his supporters at the convention, I just don't see how they do it. He will have enough delegates to be nominated when he gets to the convention. Stopping him then would mean total disaster for the GOP.

JUST SOOOOO FUN TO WATCH YOU NUT CASES SQUIRM! GO DONALD!

3/4 of the GOP isn't supporting him as of yet. Have you had a brain scan?
That helps me sleep at night. But I swear someone -- maybe Trump, maybe Hillary -- is paying Carson and Kasich to hang in there and split the vote so no one can get enough votes to beat him. Even with all the establishment candidates supporting Rubio, you watch. As long as these guys let themselves be run by their egos, Trump will win.

That's true. The polling shows that Cruz or Rubio alone would kick Trump's ass. No one else stands a chance at this point. They have to know they are spoilers, well Carson still believes in miracles but somebody needs to explain the facts of life to him.

Can you assume that if Carson and Kasich get out of the race, that all of their support will fall behind Rubio? I don't think that is true, and it will be too late very soon.

I have never seen anyone make a political campaign look like some kind of circus or reality show, as Trump does. But it is working for him. He has convinced a significant number in the Republican world that he is conservative. This will be an election year that will be studied by analyst for years and years.

Trumps support isn't growing and won't unless he wins the nomination. I do believe most of Kasich and Carson's votes with go to Cruz or Rubio. I thing the carnival barker would have pulled them in by now.

Of course not every vote will go to Rubio, and I agree with you, it's probably too late now. But if the early race hadn't been so fractured, there might have been a chance to elect someone other than Trump.
Oh, and heads up, guys--Trump supporters don't care if he's a conservative, liberal or Canadian. They like him for what he says he supports. Political labels aren't important to the majority of folks.

I honestly think it is too late to stop Trump. And if the GOP launches a big campaign to do so, as they just might, Trump will attack as he has done every time before. He attacks whomever is his greatest challenge. The farther he gets in the primaries, the harder it will be to nominate anyone other than Trump. It is an Amazingly Difficult situation for the brain trust of the GOP.

Considering the results of the last few presidential elections, it is time to go rogue. If for no other reason to send a message that we are tired of the same old crap. Now that Jeb is gone it is time to remove the Washington insider Mrs. Clinton. How bad can a Trump presidency really be? Neither side will really work with him, at first.

You might have a point. Obama didn't know what he was getting into and we are barely surviving.

It is getting to be a incessant comment for me to make, but here goes...

TRUMP CANNOT WIN THE GENERAL ELECTION. He will not get more than 10% of the black vote and no more than 20% of the Hispanic vote, There is just no way that he can find enough votes to make up for those two deficits. There are just not enough white people out there to get him into the WH.

As we have discussed, the GOP is stuck with him. The only way anyone else wins the nomination is for the establishment to take the nomination away from him at the convention. We all know what he would do then.

So if thinking that Donald is going to be the next President helps you sleep at night, go for it. But realistically speaking, THAT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN.

And it quite frankly does not matter who the Dems nominate. Fini

Yeah go rogue, that's great ... but let's not go FULL RETARD in the process.

It can (and probably will) be REALLY, REALLY, REALLY bad, as in worse than Obama and Bush Jr. combined, Trump not only has no idea what he's doing, he's a border line megalomaniac with absolutely no principles.

Obama had no idea either. The whole establishment is Washington is run by the bureaucracy. I realize that Obama has made the presidency look like a dictatorship but it still is not. It is not like Trump could or should go in and end Welfare the same day.

Trump has experience with dealing with people and making deals that jeopardize his own capital. If we had a functioning government Trump will be held in check. But after 8 years of this administration I am not sure if we do.

Besides, what experience do you want him to have?

it must be nice to be in a party that rigs it's primaries with superdelegates so the party elite get their candidate no matter what.

Yeah no kidding, Obama is a jackass, Trump is a jackass on steroids; What makes you think Trump wants to do anything about the Washington bureaucracy? After all he's one of the people that have been BENEFITING from it for decades, he's just been on the buyer side of the corruption equation, now we're going to put him in charge of the seller side?

Trump has experience with dealing with people and making deals that jeopardize his own capital. If we had a functioning government Trump will be held in check. But after 8 years of this administration I am not sure if we do.
That was my point, with a President Trump there is nothing to hold his megalomania in check, it's like putting Satan in charge of the whorehouse and expecting good things to result from it.

Besides, what experience do you want him to have?
I didn't say anything about "experience" , I said he didn't know what he was doing, one need look no further than his flimsy and full of fluff policy proposals to see that. It's all smoke and mirrors without a prayer of producing outcomes which benefit the long term prosperity of the nation or even being practical.
