Juan Gabriel (1950 - 2016) was a super popular and beloved singer in Mexico.

It was assumed that he was gay, although he never came out of the closet.

In 2002, a reporter finally asked him the question directly.

Juanga (as he was known) replied, "Dicen que lo que se ve no se pregunta." ("You don't ask about what can be seen.")

I believe that "gay" is usually defined as "homosexual."

I have read that one of Juanga's associates actually wrote a book in which the associate claimed that he and Juanga had had an intimate friendship. Apparently, the book did NOT affect Juanga's popularity one bit.
