Why everyone doesn't see the wisdom of this baffles me.

It's because you can look outside and see guns walking down the street looking for people to shoot. Guns are bad, all they do is shoot people. If all guns disappeared then nobody would ever have to be afraid of guns killing them. Then we can start getting all the knives off the streets, because they walk around trying to stab people.

"Staff may be armed" is certainly more protective and more of a deterrent than "Gun Free Zone".
