They control the opposition by leading it
I completely agree, and let me explain to Ron Paul supporters why I think he was allowed to become a mainstream candidate: MSM gains credebility, recognition, viewers, legitimacy by telling the truth to suck us in; they NEED candidates who speak the truth, so they choose an old soft man, who's been in government forever, and allow him on there, so what if the wave of his popularity catches to the point that they can not put out the flame and he became president? - all his ideas could still be blocked by congress/senate, and if absolutely necessary, he would perhaps die of a heart attack at his age - better him on there, then all his supporter types uniting with a movement which is not controlled by them by some nutcase like me, who is an absolute stubborn "fundamentalist" with an unchangeable mind, seeking not just a ride to the white house but a complete government take over.Ron Paul is a mainstream candidate in my opinion because he was allowed into all the GOP debates, he gets appearances on the cable news channel to speak his mind, and is even invited for interviews on Sunday Morning Political Shows like Meet the Press. Meet the Press is about as mainstream as it gets for political media. Of course, he is less mainstream than Romney and Obama, who dominate the mainstream discussion, but he's still part of it.
