There are two things the next president needs to do....

1. Develop alternative energy. We are in a state of national emergency. We are spending $700 billion dollars a year on foreign oil. We have to develop other sources of energy. The Danes already get 20% of their energy from wind power because their politicians were more forward thinking than ours. We have to do something soon, or we will become a third world country.

2. Get us the f**k out of Iraq. We are burning billions of dollars each month on this hole in the desert. It's not our country! Bring the troops home ASAP.

The guy who can do these two things the best is Obama. Another Republican will just be more of the same.

And a Democratic Congress...

"The only thing we have to fear is.....fear itself."

What is funny as hell about that, is people today use that quote to say we should not fear the terrorist, or that the republicans are fear mongers, but when FDR said it, he meant the only thing we should fear was being afraid to stand up and fight for what we thought was right.

What evidence can you provide that Obama can develop an alternative energy source?

No, when FDR said that he was talking about how fear and greed created the Great Depression. People became afraid and pulled their money out of the stock market and the banks.

Here is an outline of Obama's plan....

Concord Monitor - Obama rolls out energy plan

Under Obama's plan, a cap would be set that limits the total amount of carbon emissions allowed. The total would be divided into pollution allowances, which would all be auctioned off. Companies could then buy and sell the allowances. Some of the revenue from the auctions would be used toward developing clean energy and promoting energy efficiency. Other Democrats have promoted similar plans, although unlike Obama, most have said that some permits would be given away free.

Sounds a lot like Al Bores carbon credit scam.

Look, we don't need to "develop" alternative energy. We already have proven alternative energy sources. Geothermal heat and cooling, solar hot water, more energy efficient building techniques like insulated concrete forms already have proven track records and can be implemented at a much lower cost than any of either candidate's so called energy plans.

All it would take is a tax credit for using these existing technologies and a change in building codes and we could easily and painlessly see a huge. reduction to our dependence on foreign oil as well as a boom in the US economy because of all the new businesses and jobs that would be created as a result of this very simple plan.

Why do these pols think that the only way to "solve" this problem is to throw billions of dollars at it?

What about fixing SS, Balancing the budget, fixing our broken education system.

Just to name a few?

Great ideas.

Not going to happen, though.

Social security isn't broken, but medicade/care are.

Social security was funded like crazy by the baby boomers, folks. We not only paid up for our fathers (whoc got far more than they paid) but we more than paid for the actuarial reality of our retirements, too.

Now it is NOT our fault if the government pissed away that surplus on their dog and pony shows, is it?

Empires which have military presences in over 100 nations do tend to get expensive and that's only largest, but hardly the only place that both parties pissed away the wealth of this once very great and very welathy nation.

Where did all the money go, you ask?

Ask the superwealthy where it went.

It went to them mostly.

Why do you think that the income and asset disparity in this nation is greater than it ever was in the history of this nation?
