Shots fired into GOP headquarters in Knoxville
An unknown suspect fired several shots into the Bearden office of the Bush/Cheney re-election campaign Tuesday morning.

The headquarters are located at 4618 Kingston Pike, next to Noveau Classics and in the same shopping plaza as Long's Drugstore.

According to Knoxville Police Department (KPD) officers on the scene Tuesday, it is believed that the two separate shots were fired from a car sometime between 6:30 am and 7:15 am.

One shot shattered the glass in the front door and the other cracked the glass in another of the front doors.

There were no witnesses to the shooting. A customer at a nearby dry cleaning store noticed shattered glass on the sidewalk in front of the headquarters and called police.

Volunteers and staffers at the campaign office say they have no clues as to who might have committed the crime. However, they add that the shooting makes them even more enthusiastic and energized about working for their candidates.

"If I have to sleep here (at the campaign office) now, that's what I'll do," says volunteer Suzanne Dewar.

In an unexpected twist, a bank directly across the street from the headquarters was robbed just as KPD officers were busy investigating at the scene of the shooting.

maybe the bank robbers did it as a diversion.... probably just some idiot punk kids
not a smart diversion, draw a bunch of cops across the street from the bank you want to rob?

the article said it was robbed, that means they didn't stop the robbery right? or am i taking that too literally? "keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer"

predicting only. Civil war over shit like this is NOT something I want to see. ever.

I agree. I dont want to see a Civil war either but i think its only a matter of time before one happens. When President Bush wins reelection it will signal the complete loss of power for the liberal agenda. Republicans will have control of all three branches of government and solidify control over the Judicial branch by appointing conservative judges who will not read liberal policy into the Constitution that is not there.

We all should be united against terrorists because of their attack on our soil. But our nation isnt united, we have an extreme fringe taking a major political party to the extremes of opposing our national security. We have a major Presidential candidate proposing that we offer nuclear fuel to our enemies in Iran for the promise that they dont make weapons. Anyone who things we can trust a terror regime with such material is living in a fantasy world. How will giving them material with which they could create nuclear weapons in the worst scenario, and which they could create dirty bombs in the worst scenario going to help us win the war on terror?

No, we arent united right now. We are facing extremism at home as well as abroad. We have people seriously suggesting that the President be assasinated. Even the worst right wingers never suggested such a thing for President Clinton. We have posters on this board such as bully who have proposed open rebellion if President Bush is reelected. Whether they are serious at this point who knows. but the violent nature of this election so far indicates that there are possiblities. I dont mean the actions by the candidates themselves but from those who have been vandalizing on both sides.

When President Bush wins, Kerry will try something legally to challege the election. Quite likely he may do something regarding the fradulent activity going on in Ohio already. He may not win any such challenge but the challenge alone is simply to solidify to the base that Bush is illigimate again. Which, knowing the left, many of them will gladly accept as they have the Michael Moore movie.

I think we should also remember that the roots of the extreme left are in marxism. Marxism by nature is revolutionary. They may pretend to be anti war but they would not hesitate to use force to regain power for their socialist agenda. On the other side we have extremist racists such as those you find at this board who would gladly fight them. I think we have enough kindling and amunition to blow this nation sky high.

Foxnews reported, this morning, that KerryEdwards is already raising money for a re-count.

Will it ever end? I hope he wins by a landslide. Dick Morris predicted last night before the debate that Bush would win. He said that there are many people that will vote for Bush but simply won't admit it afterwards, and that he personally knew of quite a few like that.

The guys that I know are all Yellow Dog Democrats and it wouldn't matter to them if the Candidate had Halitosis so bad he was himself a WMD and that the US would be sanctioned for voting the dangerous man into office, but heck I can hope he is right.

I expect Bush to win, just by a close margin. Dick appeared to think it would be a Electoral landslide. If it is then recounts simply won't matter.

I can understand why you think it might be close, but i seriously cant see it happening. Every time John Kerry opens his mouth he offends half his base. As far as im concerned, New Jersey, New York, California, and Illinois are all in play. It might not be to the last week that the voters pull towards Bush, but i have tremendous faith in the American people.

I too am skeered of Kerry's chances... :(

I had a feeling about Clinton...I have a feeling about Kerry. :(

Civil War? Gosh I hope so! The libs need to be cleansed and pay for their iniquities - they'd easily lose because they don't own guns....:p

but how many of us libs are ex marine rifle experts? :bye1:

Not nearly as many as from the Conservative side. The Services are comprised of 60% Conservative/40% Democrat, it stands to reason that the numbers would side on the Conservatives in that regard.

How many of us are Libertarians, and know people with access to Privately owned Military made Helicopters?

Out of Dems/Reps and Libertarians, I would bet the Libertarians are far better armed than the lot of ya!
