I think there should be a "Scholastic Brotherhood and Sisterhood of American Students".. paid for by annual dues of $500 paid for by the parents.

And what they get for that is...

Legal representation.
A Safe, Modern and Clean learning environment
A Curriculum designed to educate, as opposed to making the teacher's day easier and over faster.

An 8 hour School day, and a Minimum wage paycheck every Friday (currently $290) for the students, that can be used for the student, and in some cases, CAN go a long way towards improving the student's economic situation at home.

A college tuition trust fund.

Due process and Probable cause for suspension and punishments and accusations against the student.
A court case to expel the student.

Health insurance that covers both the student, and the student's family.

Sets standards for the students, and demands standards for the Teachers.

That would go a long way...
Especially in Worker's Union states.

The way things are today, the teachers get everything, the students get the shaft.

How are you going to fund all that?

It sounds a bit too idealist to work out.

Teachers are not the biggest problem. The biggest problem is the lack of parenting, and the pervasive violence and lack of discipline in inner city school environments.

Most teachers want to do the job well, but the job is very tough, especially in inner city schools where the kids have 0 discipline and 0 respect.
