The reality of Greenland

Global Warming Blamed For South Florida Severe Flooding

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Global warming is being blamed by some for the more severe than usual flooding in South Florida.

At a summit on climate change in Miami being hosted by former Vice President Al Gore, both Gore and U.S. Senator Bill Nelson pointed to the coastal floods.

“Climate change is a reality, and we’re seeing it today on the streets of Miami beach,” said Nelson.

Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine called on the world to take a lesson from the flooding in South Florida.

“When they see Miami Beach being affected by sea level rise due to climate change, I think that wakes up a lot of people around the world,” Levine said. “Whatever happens on Miami Beach, the world knows about it.”

Most endangered are the low-lying barrier parks on the country's southeastern Atlantic seacoast. The cost of rebuilding or replacing historic structures such as lighthouses and tourist centers at North Carolina's Cape Hatteras National Seashore in North Carolina alone is estimated at nearly $1.2 billion—without even factoring in loss of lands and tourist income.

Ten NPS national seashores listed most at risk are popular destinations for millions of Americans including some of its most visited and beloved beach areas.

They include:
1. Assateague (Maryland/Virginia)
2. Cape Cod (Massachusetts)
3. Fire Island (New York)
4. Cape Hatteras (North Carolina)
5. Cape Lookout (North Carolina)
6. Canaveral (Florida)
7. Cumberland Island (Georgia)
8. Gulf Islands (Florida/Mississippi)
9. Point Reyes (California)
10. Padre Island (Texas)

10 Coastal Destinations Most at Risk From Sea Level Rise

There they are.

And yet during the Viking's time of exploration and expansion almost a thousand years ago. Greenland went thru a warming period of several centuries, which allowed the Vikings to settle there and even grow seasonal crops. And I'm pretty sure the warming trend had zero to do with man made global warming. .....

The Viking colonies were never more than barely hanging on. Jared Diamond covered the plight of those colonies in his very informative book, "Collapse".

Is South Beach underwater yet?

South Beach should worry more about UVC radiation (detected at Davis), because most don't have the technology to check for a mutated ozone layer. They are forced to rely on media reports.

lol......posted up several days ago and 5 responses. Not so interesting.:fingerscrossed:

Rare to see any thread posted up by the alarmist camp get more than a couple of dozen "views". Weak.

Why do you always leave out the fact that the last three years the ice deposited is triple the loss?

You do know glaciers are driven down, right? the snow and ice deposited slides down the mountain and calves into the oceans.. A NATURAL PROCESS.....

Right, because climate scientists taught you that. You know, the same people you call liars and incompetent. You really seem to trust them! Until you don't...

Because scientists understand that increased precipitation is not an indicator that the globe is not warming. Duh, what a stupid question.

if you are worried about climate change--you have mental problems
you can't do anything about it if it is happening
go fill some sandbags?? dig a ditch??

Or, we can improve awareness and knowledge of the problem, leading to better solutions. We can better educate our children, leading to more innovation and more efficient, alternative energy sources. We can increase awareness of and programs for recycling and conservation. We can elect people who will implement policy and law that results in investment in alt energy and conservation methods, as well as discouraging emissions and encouraging efforts to reduce them.

I could go on and on. Use your head, dude.

Did he video any of it?

Incorrect nimrod.

Geology and common sense showed me that global warming and cooling have happened many times over the Earth's history, and that humans had nothing to do with it. .....

So because people died of pneumonia in the past, bullets cannot kill them today? That is exactly the logic you are using. You are amazingly ignorant of science and the earth's past history.

If that is your idea of an analogy to make a point?

You need to go back to the drawing board and try again. .... :cuckoo:

You do know that this is another stinky 'fact' pulled from the ample ass of Silly Billy.

We damned well can prevent the worse from happening by reducing our output of GHGs as quickly as possible.
