The thing is this tax would gut the economy due to the sudden need for liquid assets to pay off those massive taxes. Do you think Bezos has $30 billion in cash just sitting around? He would have to sell securities, he would have to sell property maybe, and he would be just one of many of these guys dumping these assets all at once. And since all the would be buyers would have to sell the same way, who would be buying? With all the assets flooding the market, the value of those assets would plummet, forcing them to sell more assets, forcing values even lower.
If Bezos and the others had to dump millions of shares of their company stock all at once, the values of those companies would fall, and that would cripple pension and 401k plans, and pension plans are already in pain.
Do leftists even think of the possible effects of a wealth tax like this????
