This cool infographic details the lifespan of the world's first nuclear powered aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise. There are two notable firsts in her life, the first nuclear carrier in service, and the first to retire.

A really neat piece with some interesting information. I once saw the Enterprise pass the battleship New Jersey and that was when I realized what a massive ship she is. She completely dwarfed what was once considered the biggest and deadliest ship in the world. Poor USNS New Jersey.

Thanks for the link, longknife. One of my junior high school classmates was on the USS Enterprise after going through basic training at Great Lakes. My brother was never assigned to that ship, but was on the Midway for at least 1/3 of his career. His Captain kept requesting him to stay on the ship, and he ran the airplane repair dept.
