Sounds a lot like the Russian version of Nazi's 'Einsatzgruppen', except it's used on their own troops.
Bet they need many of those trucks because Ukrainians are killing a lot of Russians.

I don't think they'd waste the gas dragging them around since they only incinerate one at a time.

They use diesel fuel, it burns hotter, but you're right, they need the fuel for their advances into the Ukraine and it seems they don't have enough for that either.
Logistics does not seem to be their strength.

That's what I'm seeing. The logistics of Putin's in invasion hasn't been thought out correctly. Many tanks and vehicles are simply running out of fuel and being abandoned.
