These are just the type of people i feared would be influenced by the super heated political atmosphere
'These people'? Who, the mentally impaired Jared Loughner? Provide proof of your inane accusations or stfu.
I thought you said you would 'never fear' people? Liar.

In that sentance I did not say I feared a human , I said I feared a human would be influenced by the violent speech.
If indeed he is a paranoid Schizophrenic
The facts are that these people are very suceptable to conspiracy theorys.
human beings especially young people who live in a society that is fraught with political heat like Arizona cant help but be effected.
This young man was not blind, deaf and dumb he has a brain chemistry imbalance.
His friends all said he was a sweet guy before he started to "change".
The proof very well may come when this young man is medicaded and tells us himself what his motivations were.
When he tells us himself what was in his head will you believe him?
One of the victims may also be able to speak about her views on the crime someday.
She was the target of his rage, will you believe her feelings?
She infact spoke out about just such a danger from these types of violent imagery before someone put a bullet in her brain.
Its what I believe
I am allowed to believe a young ill man was influence by the world that surrounded him.
In fact its a pretty logical assumption.
You have NO proof it did not influence him.
How could this young man live in Arizona all his life and not hear the words that surround him?
People surrounded him, he walked and lived amoung the people of Arizona.
Arizona has been very much in the news for its political enviroment.
People talk to each other.
This young insane man was influenced by the eworld he lived in.
The world he lived in had a very heated poltical bent for years before he blew his top.
Pretending this young insane man was uneffected by the world that surrounded him is pretty silly.
Do you think its bad to want our dialogue to become more civil?
Friends, co-workers and mental health specialists suggest a personality gone awry, a social outcast whose instability seems to have fallen through the cracks despite the fears of bewildered peers, bosses and educators.
Considering the relative power and wealth that this nation welds, it is relatively civil.
I regret that this representative was shot by this person who is most likely psychotic (in one form or the other). I think there is a larger point to be made that the tone and tenor of American Political Discourse is absolute shit these days (and has been that way for several years - long before Palin took the stage).
However, Lougher's actions are not some sort of warning alarm about the state of this nation.
I think I have heard paraniod Schizophrenia as a possible condition for him.
These people are VERY prone to conspiracy theories.
I agree it did not originate with Palin.
There has been some very ruff things said fro many years including that pres clinton should be assinated by a sitting poltician.
I understand that you feel it was not a warning alarm, many other Americans like me feel it was.
Paranoid personality disorders are prone to conspiracy theories. Paranoid schizophrenics make up their own conspiracy theories and they tend to be the star of them. ("I work for the CIA/NSA and they send special messages to the microchip implanted in my forehead through the radio tower downtown. They have imparted me with the ability to control the stop lights in the town to protect the children. The night I was arrested by the Police for walking down main street naked, I was on mission for the CIA to protect the elderly at cross walks. Just call Langley and ask for Jill at the front desk. She'll corroborate everything.")
I hold off on a diagnosis for this kid. That's a job for the professionals.
does it HAVE to be violent?
I think it can be civil, it has been civil in some periods in our past

You forgot:paranoid schizophrenia - Bing Health
Paranoid schizophrenia — Comprehensive overview covers symptoms, causes, treatment of this type of schizophrenia.
Definition
Paranoid schizophrenia is one of several types of schizophrenia, a chronic mental illness in which reality is interpreted abnormally (psychosis). The classic features of paranoid schizophrenia are having beliefs that have no basis in reality (delusions) and hearing things that aren't real (auditory hallucinations).
With paranoid schizophrenia, your ability to think and function in daily life may be better than with other types of schizophrenia. You may not have as many problems with memory, concentration or dulled emotions. Still, paranoid schizophrenia is a serious, lifelong condition that can lead to many complications, including suicidal behavior. But with effective treatment, you can manage the symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia and work toward leading a happier, healthier life.
Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia may include:
Auditory hallucinations, such as hearing voices
Delusions, such as believing a co-worker wants to poison you
Anxiety
Anger
Aloofness
Violence
Verbal confrontations
Patronizing manner
Suicidal thoughts and behavior

He did not attack a basebasll game , he did not attack a pizza palour.
He went to a poltical event and tried to kill a democratic rep.
His target was political.
please respect the facts we do have.
This young man did not live in a vacume

This morning on “Good Morning America,” ABC’s Ashleigh Banfield sat down with Zach Osler, a high school friend of Jared Loughner, the suspect in the Tucson massacre.
Osler says his friend wasn’t shooting at people, “he was shooting at the world.” Regarding the high-pitched talk radio and cable news political rhetoric, Osler says his friend didn’t even watch the news.
He did not watch TV. He disliked the news. He didn’t listen to political radio. He didn’t take sides. He wasn’t on the left. He wasn’t on the right.

Let them resign. If they want to let an attack by an insane individual deter them from serving, then I highly doubt they were there for the right reason to begin with.
