All the touting of the Arab spring has turned into another Muslim nightmare. Remember the calls from the Obama administration for the ouster of Musharraf. It was time for this moderate dictator to go. And so he did. Well, it appears that the Muslim brotherhood took over the Parliament just unanimously decided this.

The lower house of the Egyptian parliament has unanimously approved a text declaring that Israel is the number one enemy of Egypt and calling for the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador and a halt to gas exports to Israel.

On Monday, Egyptian MPs voted by a show of hands on the text of a report, which was compiled by the Arab Affairs Committee of the People's Assembly (lower house of parliament).

"Revolutionary Egypt will never be a friend, partner or ally of the Zionist entity, which we consider to be the number one enemy of Egypt and the Arab nation," the report declared, adding, "It will deal with that entity as an enemy, and the Egyptian government is hereby called upon to review all its relations and accords with that enemy."
PressTV - Israel is Egypt?s no. 1 enemy, MPs declare

I guess it was only SPRINGTIME in Obama's brain--:badgrin: This is Iran all over again. We did the same exact think with the Shaw of Iran--Nixon wouldn't back him--and look what took over. History always repeats itself--especially when it has anything to do with radical extremists. I don't think we'll ever learn. But it would sure be nice to be energy independent so we could give the middle finger to the middle east.

Actually, it was Carter who cut the legs out from under the Shah, but only after it was clear that the Shah was no longer viable.

Yes, history does repeat itself. For decades, we propped up Mubarek, even though he was a rather brutal dictator. When it was clear he was going down, we backed away from him.

The real problem is that the US is unable or unwilling to distinguish between Americas interests and Israel's interests.

Israel had an interest in the Mubarek Regime because Mubarek kept up the Camp David agreements after Sadat had been assassinated for them.
