Rick Perry, After Raising Secession, Calls For Fed Help With Swine Flu

Less than two weeks after raising the prospect of seceding from the union, Texas Gov. Rick Perry is calling on the federal government to come to his state's aid in the midst of the swine flu outbreak.

    The San Marcos Record reports:

Gov. Rick Perry today in a precautionary measure requested the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provide 37,430 courses of antiviral medications from the Strategic National Stockpile to Texas to prevent the spread of swine flu. [...]

"As a precautionary measure, I have requested that medication be on hand in Texas to help curb the spread of swine flu by helping those with both confirmed and suspected cases of this swine flu virus, as well as healthcare providers who may have come in contact with these patients," said Gov. Rick Perry. "We will continue to work with our local, state and federal health officials to ensure public safety is protected."

Back on April 15, Perry was taking a rather different stance towards the federal government:

"There's a lot of different scenarios," Perry said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."

Well, If Gov. Perry does not get those vaccines, then one could suggest that he was clairvoyant

One minute he's threatening to leave the Union, implying that Texas has all it needs in order to survive without the US. So, go fight the pig flu on your own, bitch. Go secede from the Union and work with Mexico to stop this pig flu without using one single federal government service. If he can do it, let Texas go. If he can't, which he won't be able to, then he should resign and let someone who WANTS Texas to be part of the Union govern the state.

Until the government stops taking tax money from Texas, why shouldn't Texas ask for their due part in return? Do you want them to continuing paying taxes, getting their rights trampled upon, and get nothing in return? That's a more outrageous proposition than the one that currently exists where citizens get a very low rate of return for taxes paid.

If the money Texans paid in federal income tax went to the state of Texas, they'd be just fine. So will Obama man up and allow that or be a bitch because he needs their dollars in his pocket ?
