Caught an episode a few weeks ago where they're raiding a floor boss and was thinking "this is a lot like an mmorpg..." 
Eventually realized it is about an mmorpg and so got more into the show watching whatever epis were on on-demand on Adult Swim.
It's REALLY good! Even minus the gamer aspect. The storyline is surprisingly advanced, and while it has a lot of the intense Japanese depressing type storyline stuff, it's extremely well-done. Up to think like episode 24 or 25 now. Poor girl finally died of AIDS and her gamer friends had the memorial. The dialogue and messages are really impressive. Really good example of Japanese culture and spirituality.
