Sweden.........they have gun control

They also have criminal gangs who need guns to enforce their drug turf.....

In late may a throng of a hundred or so young men, most of them from African or Middle Eastern minorities, started fighting in a square in Hjallbo, a suburb of Gothenburg, Sweden’s second city. Members of rival gangs seem to have started the scrap over the theft of a moped. Two days later a man in a nearby grocery shop was shot in the back of the head, thought to be as an act of revenge for the gangland battle. Then a policeman in Biskopsgarden, another suburb of the city, was shot dead. A few days after that a man was murdered in a barber’s shop in Frolunda, yet another suburb. To add to this litany of recent criminal violence, two young children were lucky to survive last week after being caught in the crossfire of yet another gang shoot-out, this time in Visattra, on the edge of Stockholm, the capital.

In the past 15 years, Sweden has had Europe’s highest rate of death by shooting, according to a recent report by the country’s National Council for Crime Prevention. Analysing data on 22 European countries provided by Eurostat and the un’s World Health Organisation, Klara Hradilova-Selin, a researcher at the council, reckoned that Sweden came second after Croatia between 2014 and 2017. But by 2018 preliminary data suggested that Sweden had risen to the top spot. Most of the victims are men between 20 and 29. Sweden’s rate of homicide by shooting is two-and-a-half times the European average.

So.......Sweden is in Europe.....Sweden has gun control.....

They have higher rates of gun crime than the other countries of Europe....how is this possible?

We are told that limiting access to guns ends gun crime......especially in Europe....but how is it, then, that Sweden has such a gun problem? All the countries around them...their criminals can also get guns....likely will be getting more guns....but why is Sweden so full of gun violence?

Culture......the criminals in Sweden need guns to conduct business.....so they get guns....despite European and Swedish gun control...

Swedish caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Lofven expressed outrage on Thursday over the killing of an on-duty police officer, a rarity in the Nordic country, calling it an "attack on our open society" amid growing concerns over gang violence.

The police officer in his 30s was shot and killed late on Wednesday while on duty in Biskopsgarden, a Gothenburg suburb that has been plagued by gang violence in recent years and where police have had an increased presence.

The growing of crimes with guns and bombs seems to be a problem of the immigration and integration politics in Sweden. The open and free society in Sweden depends on the Swedish mentality of solidarity. But this is not a propagated main stream in the media of the world which replaces our direct views into reality. The dominating role models in the world are autocratic tyrannies - where everyone depends on narrow structures and strong leaders - and on the other side is propagated a free chaotic individualism and egocentrism which cares not about social problems.

We are told that limiting access to guns ends gun crime.

An "egocentraliced" argument for free crimes ... ah sorry: free weapons for everyone - in the USA. Background of such ideas is not the constitution of the USA but the propaganda of the criminal terror organisation NRA, which had been once a harmless umbrella organisation for rod and gun clubs. If a politician in the USA fights for better weapon laws then the NRA "shoots" him down with propaganda which will end the career of such a politician. A side effect of such strategies: The distance between laws and justice grows. ... And the amount of cowards and corrupt politicians grows too.

.....especially in Europe....but how is it, then, that Sweden has such a gun problem?

For example on reason of bad schools in suburbs, where immigrants don't like to learn. There exists gang criminality and drug abuse. ...

All the countries around them...their criminals can also get guns....likely will be getting more guns....but why is Sweden so full of gun violence?

Culture......the criminals in Sweden need guns to conduct business.....so they get guns....despite European and Swedish gun control...

Gun control laws not means that no guns exist. Every violation of law and order in free societies with just laws depends on a loss of "control". The question is how to get back "control" and justice - what's the other side of the Swedish way. The Swedes think somehow if someone understands a problem then the people will do on their own what's the best to do to solve it. That's also my way.

God bless Sweden. My prayers are with you.

Hmmmm…..that reminds me, I need to get that Mossberg that I was looking at. Nothing is more emphatic than a 12 gauge pump being cocked and a round being chambered. And it doesn’t matter if a crowd of 100 shows up, after I kill a dozen of them, some of them will run away.

US White Males suicide by gun is 10 times greater than Sweden's! Other races in the US rarely suicide. Even Black murder rate is 4 times lower than US White Males suicide by gun rate.

And?

Suicide rate by Japanese males is higher than white males in the U.S.......they jump in front of bullet trains, off of buildings, and use household cleaning products......

Your point?

Cherry picking data again. I notice you only consider white males, not the overal US male suicide rate.

Looking at 2019 figures (sorry, just a 3 minute Google search on my part, not an in depth study) the US male suicide rate was 25/100000, compared to Japan's for the same year of 21.8/100000

Yes.....I told Joe this.....2019 is the only year that the U.S. had more suicides than the Japanese.....the only year..........all the rest, the Japanese without guns committed suicide more than we did.....

And yet Scotland has a higher suicide rate than the U.S......Japan, where only criminals and cops have guns, has a higher suicide rate than the U.S....Sweden has a higher suicide rate than the U.S....Denmark has a higher suicide rate than the u.S.....

A new report by Unicef contains a shocking statistic - New Zealand has by far the highest youth suicide rate in the developed world.
A shock but no surprise - it's not the first time the country tops that table.
The Unicef report found New Zealand's youth suicide rate - teenagers between 15 and 19 - to be the highest of a long list of 41 OECD and EU countries.
The rate of 15.6 suicides per 100,000 people is twice as high as the US rate and almost five times that of Britain.

Again...you guys cherry picked 2019, while ignoring about 50 years of data....

meanwhile...

Fact Check, Gun Control and Suicide

There is no relation between suicide rate and gun ownership rates around the world.

According to the 2016 World Health Statistics report, (2) suicide rates in the four countries cited as having restrictive gun control laws have suicide rates that are comparable to that in the U. S.: Australia, 11.6, Canada, 11.4, France, 15.8, UK, 7.0, and USA 13.7 suicides/100,000. By comparison, Japan has among the highest suicide rates in the world, 23.1/100,000, but gun ownership is extremely rare, 0.6 guns/100 people.

Suicide is a mental health issue. If guns are not available other means are used. Poisoning, in fact, is the most common method of suicide for U. S. females according to the Washington Post (34 % of suicides), and suffocation the second most common method for males (27%).

Secondly, gun ownership rates in France and Canada are not low, as is implied in the Post article. The rate of gun ownership in the U. S. is indeed high at 88.8 guns/100 residents, but gun ownership rates are also among the world’s highest in the other countries cited. Gun ownership rates in these countries are are as follows: Australia, 15, Canada, 30.8, France, 31.2, and UK 6.2 per 100 residents. (3,4) Gun ownership rates in Saudia Arabia are comparable to that in Canada and France, with 37.8 guns per 100 Saudi residents, yet the lowest suicide rate in the world is in Saudia Arabia (0.3 suicides per 100,000).
Third, recent statistics in the state of Florida show that nearly one third of the guns used in suicides are obtained illegally, putting these firearm deaths beyond control through gun laws.(5)
Fourth, the primary factors affecting suicide rates are personal stresses, cultural, economic, religious factors and demographics. According to the WHO statistics, the highest rates of suicide in the world are in the Republic of Korea, with 36.8 suicides per 100,000, but India, Japan, Russia, and Hungary all have rates above 20 per 100,000; roughly twice as high as the U.S. and the four countries that are the basis for the Post’s calculation that gun control would reduce U.S. suicide rates by 20 to 38 percent. Lebanon, Oman, and Iraq all have suicide rates below 1.1 per 100,000 people--less than 1/10 the suicide rate in the U. S., and Afghanistan, Algeria, Jamaica, Haiti, and Egypt have low suicide rates that are below 4 per 100,000 in contrast to 13.7 suicides/100,000 in the U. S.

Suicide rates: An overview

Methods of suicide vary by sex and age

Over the past ten years, the most common method of suicide in Canada has been hanging (44%), which includes strangulation and suffocation; followed by poisoning (25%) and firearm use (16%).
Males were most likely to commit suicide by hanging (46%) while females most often died by poisoning (42%) (Chart 2). Males (20%) were far more likely to use firearms than females (3%).

You guys cherry pick 2019, then accuse me of doing what you did.......you are idiots...

2015

Those figures do not make Japan's the highest suicide rate in the world in a developed nation.
That dubious title belongs to South Korea. But it is still far, far higher than virtually all other wealthy countries.
It is three times the suicide rate in the United Kingdom.

2017.....

Suicides down, but Japan still second highest among major industrialized nations, report says

You are a moron...

The number of suicides in 2019 fell by 881 people, bringing the overall number under 20,000 for the first time since record-keeping began in 1978, according to preliminary police data published Friday.

The suicide rate edged down to 15.8 people per 100,000, a dip of 0.7. By contrast, the suicide rate in the United States, with more than twice Japan’s population, was 14 per 100,000 in 2017, the latest year for which data was available - although suicide is a growing problem there.

The number of people taking their own lives in Japan rose for the first time in over a decade last year, as the pandemic reversed years of progress combatting a stubbornly high suicide rate.

Japan's health and welfare ministry said Friday that 20,919 people died by suicide in 2020 according to preliminary data, up 3.7 per cent from the previous year. That compares with 3,460 deaths from coronavirus in the same period.

It marks the first year-on-year rise in suicides in more than a decade, with women and children, in particular, taking their lives at higher rates.

Japan has long had the highest suicide rate among the Group of Seven advanced countries -- though regionally South Korea registers higher figures. But the government has worked in recent years to better support people with mental health needs.

Weird.....All their Swedish Mausers were surplused-off years ago.

The cops have too much "protection" in Sweden, and it's royal, because the cops and especially Säkerhetspolisen are considered servants of His Majesty the King Carl XVI Gustaf.
And they have extra criminal charges to press against people who keep or bear Arms.

Do you know a communist society where criminals are unprivileged?
