If you are interested in keeping up with the latest on stem cell research, here’s a website for you to visit.

http://www.fumento.com/sustemcell.html

I haven’t read all these articles yet, but I can heartily recommend reading “The Adult Answer” (http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/fumento200412200902.asp), which contains lots of links to other writings.

I was made aware of Fumento’s writings by a medical friend who believes that adult stem cell therapy is the path to follow in this controvery--that it is the research that holds infinite promise for the future. From everything I have been able to read on the topic, it looks that way to me too.

That is not the latest in stem cell research. And I would look with great skepicism at any site that still asserts a link between abortion and breast cancer.

Now THIS is the NIH's info on stem cell research

http://stemcells.nih.gov/info/health.asp

Just sayin...

Be sure to let me know when human embryonic stem cell research has been successful in treating any disease, Jillian. I'm results oriented and don't have faith in highly trumpeted research that hasn't produced any significant results yet.

How can it be successful when the research is blocked in the US. This research is going on in other countries and if it yields successful treatments then it will not be the US that possesses them.

See onedomino's response. He's 100% correct. And what does that have to do with your site not being a "scientific" site, anyway? Don't you think the NIH is a more reliable source than a source that persists in saying there's a link between abortion and breast cancer?

As I understand it, embryonic stem cell research can be conducted in this country but not federally funded. If the researchers are funded through private sources, they're not breaking any laws and are engaged in a legitimate business. They just don't qualify to receive federal taxpayer monies to fund their research.

There is widespread stem cell research going on using adult stem cells available from many different sources in the human body other than the human embryo.

Please do a search for:

Open Federal Funding for Stem Cell Research - The Petition Site & Sign!!!!

Less than 3,000 needed still to reach goal.

Sorry this site will not let me post direct link yet

Thank You!
