The car-racing Japanese cartoon series Speed Racer was adapted into this full-length visually-dazzling American film featuring an interesting cast.
There is a great comparable coloring --- the Japanese cartoon boasted a 'paradise-fantasy' hospitality (audiences are invited to indulge in the visceral splendors of color-displays), and so does this film!.
We also see the appearance of a tried-and-true but rarely-seen 'dark-horse' character (Racer X) make an appearance in this non-animated but visually fun film. Racer X is the Fortinbras of Speed Racer, offering us 'conscience narratives' that give a 'self-confidence overview.'
Overall, I would say this film is as entertaining as other perceptually-smart cartoon-adapted films such as G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Aeon Flux, and Inspector Gadget.
I'd give this 4/5 stars for its visual features and mark it as one of the best visually-presented Blu-ray format films (for home-viewing entertainment) out there!
