Human life has immeasurable worth and value. The worth of a soul is great in the sight of God. So much so that He gave His only begotten Son as a sacrifice to redeem our souls. And He would have done so even if only one person would have accepted that Atonement.
If God thought we were worth enough to sacrifice His Son for our lives, shouldn't the lives of others and especially of our children be worth even more than it currently is?
We can fight to end abortion. And Im not talking about outlawing it. Im talking about working hard to make it so that no one wants an abortion. That all children are welcome and accepted. Fighting just to outlaw it is not the proper path.
I agree with you. However one problem is that Christians oppose abortion and wish to cut social services to the poor because they don't want to pay higher taxes. So the children are precious until they are born, then they are someone else's problem.
The is particularly true of the Republican party which is supported by the Christian right, one primary issue being abortion. The party signs pledges to not raise taxes, and advocates drastic cuts in social services. IMO, the American Christian right wants to serve God on its own terms. It is more interested in protecting its view of the American way of life than actually reaching out with God's love.
Here's a novel idea.... don't get pregnant, then you don't need an abortion.
