Socialism Conference

From your own link: Scandinavian countries are not real socialism. Thank you.
That is exactly NOT what is written in my link. Not surpising considering the title of the article is:
Norway Is Far More Socialist Than Venezuela
You're welcome.

So my quote was not in your link? You’re kidding right?
I couldn't find it unless you refer to where the article quotes others and disputes their position.

EXACTLY. He is opining and dissing others opinions. It would be the same thing if you wrote the article. It is an opinion piece.

Lastly, that so called article is someone’s opinion. I could write one too. Norway is as Socialist as Vermont.
Absolutely true. Your statement, "Norway is as Socialist as Vermont", is also an opinion.

If you're looking for ideological purity, you'll never find it. Every country has aspects of every economic system. The US, for example, is an amalgam of capitalism, socialism, and communism.

Thank you. We agree. My issue is that the Progressive Left's view is unnatainable and if you say that they call you a racist, bigot, homophobe, Islamaphobe.

This is scary and amusing at the same time.

I Went to a Socialism Conference. Here Are 6 Shocking Things I Learned.

I wonder if all the Leftist trolls like Right Winger and Pogo attended?
Interesting that the link above goes to a page that prominently displays a picture of AOC. However, the actual conference site doesn't mention AOC as attending or speaking. Seems like a blatant attempt to link the Dems to a group they have little to do with. I'm guessing the Right would object to a Left-wing blogger writing about a Nazi website and displaying a picture of Trump.

If the Right has truth on its side why be so deceptive? Are the Russians at work here?

To all Trump Supporters:

Above is a post y'all should emulate. Stop with the lies, conspiracy theories and character assassinations and try to do the difficult, defend Trump and the Republican Party.

At this point in history, the Republican Party seem intent on going the way of the Whigs. Where did the real Republicans go, a party which was conservative, but rational and open to compromise?

That party is long dead. As is the old Democrat party.

Republican Party = Nationalist

Democrat Party = Socialist

I don't agree:

R Party = fascism

D Party = for the people
Way to demonstrate your partisan bias.

It's really this:

R = Get elected; consolidate power

D = Get elected; consolidate power

.

Unattainable? If Vermont is as Socialist as Norway, they've already attained their goal, at least there.

Some states sure but for a country as a whole NFW. Too disparate. VT is very homogeneus. I live in Boston and have been in VT many times. It is quite unique. Very white....

Which is the very thing that makes "socialism" in Vermont and/or Norway work. A homogeneus society can function that way.

The only way "socialism" (not really socialism) works is if the people in the system share an identity or kinship.

It's the problem that the socialist horde deliberately overlooks and will never accept.

.

IDK....but are you saying that AOC disagrees with what was written in the article? Your equivalency is false. AOC admits she is a Socialist. Trump doesn't admit he is a Nazi.
This was a dishonest hit piece blurring the distinction between Dems and the hard-core socialists. AOC admits she is a Democratic Socialist a distinction the writer goes to great pains to blur and I doubt she believes much of what was written. The piece talks about AOC's Green New Deal but it is unclear if this was even discussed at the conference.

A typical snippet of this biased Right-wing writer:
While the panelists and attendees were certainly radical, and often expressed contempt for the Democratic Party establishment, it was nevertheless clear how seamlessly they blended traditional Marxist thought with the agenda of what’s becoming the mainstream left.
The writer apparently saw no reason to support his opinions of the mainstream left
There is nothing Democratic about Socialism.

It always ends up with some Short Guy with a Bad Temper trying to Kill a bunch of people, being a Dictator and wanting to be called Czar, or Fuehrer, or head of The DNC.
So which European socialist country will be the next to give up it's democracy? Denmark? Norway?
There are no socialist countries in Europe.
Opinions differ.
It's not an opinion. It's a fact.

Ironically, Alaska is the most socialist state in the union, and they generally vote Republican.

What's the relationship between socialism and race?

What's the relationship between socialism and race?
Nothing, other than a shared identity with the people in the system.

It doesn't have to be race-based. It can be locality-based, or nationality-based, or even family-based.

The point is that a wide, comprehensive welfare system only works when people are asked to take care of those they see as their "own" rather than taking care of EVERYBODY, even those with whom they are not associated.

Maybe... I think people are more concerned with fairness. They will take care of EVERYBODY if they feel EVERYBODY is taking care of them. Wouldn't it be nice if EVERYBODY viewed the world that way? Not holding my breath.

You're too much of an ideological purist. Almost every country has aspects of capitalism, socialism, and communism. Even the US. For example, I'm not sure I'd put China in that list since there is a large an growing private sector.

Socialism vs. Social Democracy: Usage Guide
In the many years since socialism entered English around 1830, it has acquired several different meanings. It refers to a system of social organization in which private property and the distribution of income are subject to social control, but the conception of that control has varied, and the term has been interpreted in widely diverging ways, ranging from statist to libertarian, from Marxist to liberal. In the modern era, "pure" socialism has been seen only rarely and usually briefly in a few Communist regimes. Far more common are systems of social democracy, now often referred to as democratic socialism, in which extensive state regulation, with limited state ownership, has been employed by democratically elected governments (as in Sweden and Denmark) in the belief that it produces a fair distribution of income without impairing economic growth.

Race was one aspect of it. Race, religion, history, values, etc... very homogeneus.

Not just me. I'd say no Democrat considers the Democratic People's Republic of Korea as their model when they speak of democratic socialism. That's not an opinion, that's a fact.
