So What Happens With Fort Myers Now? They Lost Much Of Their Season Business. Maybe, Waiters Will Move To Other Cities Still In Tact?

Ponder the following: Would any insurance company, risking its own money, provide flood insurance to anyone rebuilding in that area going forward? The answer is clearly, No. But we, the taxpayers, backstop the flood insurance to the tune of billions of dollars a year, so that rich "white" people can build their retirement and vacation homes by the sea, where no logical human would locate if they had to assume the actual risk involved.

And this local tragedy won't change that. Insurance companies need not learn from their mistakes when it comes to flood insurance. They will insure the re-built properties just like the lost ones, at pretty much the same rates as before, because we, the taxpayers, will backstop their systemic stupidity.

Welfare for white people: ain't it great?
I think the people who had their lives shattered by this storm, "white" "black" or "purple", all should be helped....

Floridians will be just fine, Californians wont.
California will be just fine because California is America...

Again, your goofy ass fetish for hating California as if they are not Americans - is just that -- goofy...

Seems to me, you are the one who ain't doing too well if you harbor such senseless hate for millions of people you don't even know....just because of your dumb ass ideology...but yall are dying out, so....

"In tact" two words? You ain't from around here are you. The outer islands might go back to nature but the people of Gulf Coast Florida are a resilient bunch.

What happened to Fort Myers/Naples is the worst economic nightmare scenario for that region. Depending on how fast they can rebuild, they may not have the usual busy seasons that bring in millions in their local economies. Fort Myers beach is gone for now. Hopefully they can rebuild in time for the 2023/24 season. Naples will have a season, inland restaurants/hotels should do OK, just not sure what will happen along the world famous streets with those mega mansions and resorts. Odds are that many waiters that either live in Fort Myers/Naples or come down for the 8 or 9 month season will go elsewhere. I live in Sarasota. We were spared! This place is like cape cod in July right thru June or July. Same with Tampa. A direct hit to Tampa would of been their worse case scenario.
They said they would give it back to the Seminoles since it was trashed so badly.

After Katrina tore through the coastal MS area there was such an increase in insurance rates for those near the beach that it became a near impossibility for non-wealthy people to keep their policy.
