Clearly we need all these functions of government. Also clearly there is waste in government. What we need are realistic proposals for streamlining and efficiency, not braindead demands for the elimination of government.

Yes...like getting rid of state home pages

Hell yeah! Down in the Third World we've got none of that shit, and look just HOW WELL we've been doing all this time! From now on I will whole-heartedly support Conservatives, because they really want to bridge the gap between our levels of development.

Hmmm... seems like something the STATE would want to do, now wouldn't it... seems like a bit of waste for the Fed, eh??

Tons of things (and agencies, and departments) big and little.. that is completely wasteful and unnecessary spending by our Federal Government

Streamlining and efficiency, like...

Department of Commerce, National Parks, and Hurricanes
Department of Agriculture, Medicaid, and Border Patrol
Veterans, Food, Drug, Environmental Protection, and Government Accountability Agency

That sounds like a great idea!

I know, you might even save .00000000000000000001 of the federal budget!

I'm more than happy to have the fed stop picking up so much slack for the states, actually. Make you red states pay for your own damn stuff!

But you praised Obama for saving a few dollars when increasing spending 100's of times more than that...

And funny thing is I just started with 'A' and started listing apparently less important or wasteful things.. of which I am sure there are many more... and all you can do is complain that a few on that quickie list are websites?? What a tool

What?? You want the comprehensive list a-z? Only the biggies and if it's small potatoes, just let it be? (Of course only millions is small potatoes to big government quacks)

I'd keep the websites, they are only $10 each and could actually have some useful info. I would do away with all but about 5 of the ones on the list. I do actually expect the government to do some things, such as maintain a kickass military and take care of them after service, so the VA is in. Others I'd probably keep, Air traffic control, border patrol, corps of engineers, EPA, FDA, and that's about it.

Do away with NASA and surrender the lead in space technology to China or Russia?

Websites, associated hardware, staffing, upkeep, $10 each

I did? Can you please quote where I praised Obama for doing that?

Dissolving entire agencies i think is ridiculous. Instead maybe a process that is similar to business mergers would be better. You can downsize staff and general necessities, office, computers, etc. Personally I would get rid of DoD or DHS, and make the remainder a conglomerate of CIA, NSA, etc. The point being that these organizations seem to have the same goals so why pay to employ extra accountants, assistants, or any other support staff? I may be mistaken in how things are ran, but at each one of these acronyms it seems they employ their own support staff.

Piece of cake. Let's say the city government. The council or mayor or their existing employees all have to chip in to build it with their solitaire time. They should have a basic page that has contact info on it for all major departments, fire, police, etc. It doesn't need whizbangs.

What do you expect from a partisan hack. How about the Department of Education?
