But because the object of the underground competition is to determine the best-looking, or “hottest,” girls in school, administrators, teachers and many students are eager to stamp it out.

Of course had it been some same sex attraction thing not only would the school officials not condemn it, they would support it. And any objection to it would be homophobia.

Um, it's not like virtually any (straight) guy in the school couldn't tell or point out to a stranger the hottest babes on the campus. And, same caveat, ditto the gals re the hot guys. Some folks make the cut and others don't. That's life.
