I used to ride horses. I've known this since the early 60s, when I was ten years old.

Animals way smarter than people give them credit for. I've had dogs all my life. Anyone that tells me they don't have emotions I just think haven't had that sort of exposure.

Ditto on the horses. My aunt has a horse farm out here in the far west Chicago area. Intelligent, sentient animals. No question, no doubt.

Dolphins, whales, elephants, monkeys, apes same-same. Some birds as well. And probably plenty I've left off my little list.
