Same sex marriage coming to Maryland

With passage in Senate, it's all but a done deal

Now that the Maryland Senate has passed the bill that was introduced by the Governor, it's essentially a done deal. There is the possibility that it will go to a public referendum, but popular support is in favor of passage if it goes that route.

Back in the 30's MD didn't even have Civil marriage. YOu had to go through the church to get married there.

It is nice to live in a time where homophobia-type bigotries are being crushed by the majority.

The next bigotry that needs defeated after that, is bigotry against non-believers.

Now there's always going to be the extremists who will be bigoted no matter how immoral, but defeating bigotry in the mainstream is a great accomplishment.

This is, of course, a state's right issue that the wing-nuts on the right will condemn.
